Went to Sitka for a fishing trip. This was planned at the last moment and we were able to find a hotel room at the Sitka Hotel. This is the oldest hotel in town and has a terrific location for site seeing and the major fishing pier. This is a fairly spartan place, but hey, we were in town to go fishing, eat and sleep.
This hotel has two parts--old and new. Old is single/double room, most without bathroom--communal shower and separate toilet.
New part has been renovated this summer, we stayed there. Two double beds and separate shower/tub/toilet. We got a new roll away bed--no charge! No closet/reading lamp, but a big TV, microwave, chest of drawers and mini frig. Wake up calls at 5:30 AM on time, front desk was friendly. The hotel restaurant, Victoria's, was very good for breakfast and dinner.
Our fishing charter was via Sitka Charters, Angela is a great person to work with and I would highly recommend arranging a fishing trip through her. By the way, the three of us fished 2 days and came home with 125 lbs of fish! A lot of fun!
