The hotel burned recently and it stills smells horrible, we would have liked to know before we arrived that it was so bad. We could not stay due to smell and attitude.

I should have passed this one by!
I found it dirty, noisy and really old. Felt creepy here and couldn't wait to leave.
Even though I knew it was old (vintage) I thought it would have been a little nicer (updated).
Could not open the bathroom door without hitting to toilet. Bathroom looked dirty overall and wasn't to sure about the bed and pillows.
Turned out to be a warm day and had to open the window and it had no screen to keep burgs out. Had to sleep like that. No air conditioning but it probably is not necessary very often.
Could hear others in rooms talking and they ran the halls all night long.
Was really glad to leave.

My wife and I stayed here for 10 days while performing at the Sitka festival. The hotel is funky to say the least. Our room was clean, roomy, extremely practical with two fabulous views. The staff is a bit eccentric, like the hotel, but friendly and helpful. The Plaza it isn't but we found it an extraordinary value and will happily stay there on our next visit.

Upon arrival to this hotel I was greeted by a rather rude front desk employee who was on the phone for 10 minutes before I was waited on. My wife was 6-months pregnant and was extremely irritated at the extended wait we had to go through when waiting for our room. The rooms were dirty and I found that the bathtub had what looked like pubic hair near the drain catch. The beds were made, but as my wife and I crawled in to snuggle after a day of sightseeing we found a pair of dirty underwear in between the sheets which was obvious at that point the sheets were not changed from whoever was there last. Sitka was a beautiful place, but wish I had booked reservations elsewhere.
