This was the third time staying at the woodruff house and although faces had changed, the experience was best by far. The first time we stayed, we were researching places for my sons wedding. I even had the management sit with us and help research different options. The second time was for the wedding itself. I think I was as nervous as the bride, but again the management was so helpful. This last stay was for us... Just me and my husband on a nice, relaxing get a way. Two days of being spoiled by great converstaion with Donna and the other guest, spending time with my husband, relaxing in the Jacuzzi tub and getting up each morning to the best home cooked country breakfast. We felt like we were the only ones there, but there were other guest who were enjoying their stay as much as we were. If you are looking for the older style bed and breakfast with heartfelt customer service, well the woodruff house is the place to go. You can go to any hotel and check into a room, but here is so different. You become part of their family, They care about their guest and it truely shows. Thank you for another wonderful stay and let me just say YES we will be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Johnson Room

“PERFECT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I wanted a perfect get a way for me and my husband and I found it at the skyview cabin. The cabin was beautiful and the staff had everything ready upon our arrival. Heat was on and cabin was warm. Lights inside and out were on and since we arrived after dark, it made our arrival more welcomeing. My husband acidently cut off the fireplace and we could not get it to relight. We contacted the management and they did not waist time to come down and relight the pilot lightfor us. They had local information awaiting for us as well, including a town map. We also had the oppertunity to have dinner at the Victorian Inn. It was highly reccommended and the food was amazing.
The view of the river was breathtaking. We even got to see wild life (deer, Eagel, and even a Falcon) Thank you for the perfect weekend

“Booked this because of the restaurant and....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Was really looking forward to this quick weekend getaway with my wife. We hit 4 wineries in the afternoon and then headed to Luray to stay here at the Victorian Inn of the Woodruff House. First off, we highly recommend Glen Manor winery as well as Chester Gap winery. Both, beautiful places and quality wines with very nice people. The inn itself was nice but definitely good use a little sprucing up. Not a great attention to detail here. We stayed in the boudoir suite and loved it because of the beautiful bathroom which included a large whirlpool tub. The room itself (besides the bathroom) was ok and had a little private patio attached which was nice, but the TV was probably from the 70's or so. We did enjoy sipping some wine on the patio which had a beautiful view of the mountains. The MAJOR complaint that I have about this place is that I booked this inn because I've heard wonderful things about the food and the chef here. I was excited to surprise the wife with a great dinner and as soon as we checked in we were told that the restaurant was closed for a private party that night. I booked this place at least 3 weeks ago and nobody ever mentioned this to me and nobody ever called me later on to let me know. Just absolutely horrible service. I was told the owner would contact me on Monday and have yet to hear from him. We did talk to the chef the next day during breakfast (which was great) and he mentioned that he planned on running the victorian inn as well as the restaurant starting in January and he was planning on sprucing some things up. He was a super nice guy whom we both enjoyed talking with. Overall, we both would of been very happy if we could of eaten dinner at the Inn as there is really no other great place to eat in the town. We did go somewhere else that night and the food was pretty bad.

“Lucky Find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

We were very fortunate to find the Woodruff House B&B when we were looking for accommodation without a reservation after leaving Washington DC to explore the Sky Line Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway.

The room and bed were top notch, the breakfast amazing. If you enjoy staying at B&Bs, We highly recommend the Woodruff House B7B.

We were first tinking about staying at the woodruff house for a weekend get a way as it was recommended by a friend, but when we found out that they had cabins, well we decieded to stay there instead. What a beautiful cabin it was. The cabin is on the Shenandoah River and my husband got to enjoy some fishing (which is great bass fishing). I got to enjoy the wild life and the relaxation.
We were able to enjoy the food at the Victorian Inn, There we also met the managers of the Woodruff Inn, John and Donna who were also having dinner . We also had the oppertunity to meet the Chef. His food is amazing and we were surprised to find that quality of food in a small town.
We will RECOMMEND the Woodruff house, Victorian Inn and their cabins for a WONDERFUL experience.

Room Tip: Skyview Cabin is perfect for a romantic, relaxing get a way. Victorian Inn for dinner (Pork Tenderl...
