“Good choice in Thousand Oaks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

This is a good choice when in Thousand Oaks or en route somewhere on the Ventura Freeway (101). It has a great location near the 101, the shopping/restaurant area on Moorpark Road and the Oaks Mall. We stay there a few times a year when in Thousand Oaks. The prices are good, and the hotel is really well run. Front desk staff are very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are very clean. The full hot breakfast (included) is quite good. There is an excellent "Tapas" style restaurant on the premises which is a hidden gem in T.O. The restaurant has a nice lounge, and there is a separate library lounge with a big-screen TV, next to the (smallish) outdoor pool and hot tub. Freeway noise is a little high, so you have to get used to that.

“Couldnt shower”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

When we checked in and got to our room, we did notice the carpets where dated as well as the tv but otherwise the room was clean. We then changed and left to attend a wedding. We got back late, so we went on to bed with plans too shower and eat breakfast in the morning before checking out. Next morning I go too take a shower but guess what it didnt work, the little thing you pull up after you turn the water on, came off in my hand. My husband and I both did a quick sponge bath, went down too eat breakfast and too tell the front desk person about what happened, his reply"we can move you to another room" my husband told him we where only here for 1 night. He didnt offer too do anything, we then go to eat breakfast, paper plates, are you kidding me?? My husband gets pancakes, and guess what the plates are so flimsy, the syrup runs off his plate onto his clothes and shoes. We'll never stay here again!

“Not worth the visit...upset its credited as 3 stars”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

I stayed in this hotel with my husband while traveling for one night and must I tell you this was so not worth the lowest bid on priceline. I have stayed at other locations that Priceline has allowed us to bid on and the other hotels have always made sure my stay was worth while. However, the Best western in Thousand Oaks...disappointment. I am sorry to say this but for the area you are in I would rate this hotel 2 stars no where near 3 stars. The furniture is very old and outdated. The best part is they make you pay $20.00 to upgrade to a deluxe room. Thought that would be better then the first room they offered us, umm no just a bit more space. For the amount I payed on priceline, plus the upgrade I could have stayed somewhere else nicer. The breakfast and the free wi-fi were the only highlights in this stay. Any one who reads this and is purchasing through Priceline ...please re consider, unless you are looking for something like a Motel 6 stay otherwise then you should be fine.

Room Tip: None of them are quieter then the next one no matter what the front desk tells you.

Unfortunately, we are not privy to the rate you pay through Priceline, but I do assure you that we are a considerable value in Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Valley. This hotel is a historic property in Thousand Oaks and considering by some to be a landmark. Many corporate business travelers prefer our full-service hotel and award-winning restaurant over traditional corporate limited service hotels because of our location, our warmth, and our amenities.

We have recently replaced our desk chairs with modern, ergonomic mesh style chairs. Our bed linens are were replaced in the last couple of years with higher thread count, tuxedo white duvet cover and insert (upgrade from triple sheeting), as well as new lighting and lamps. In 2012, all our televisions will be upgraded to 37" LCD flatscreens, and guestrooms with armchairs and sofas will also see new replacements. All our furnishings have been replaced in the past couple of years with just a few more upgrades to be made in the next few months.

“"Old lady needs a face lift"”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Sorry, but this place needs to be updated. As soon as I walked inside the room I noticed a "smell". Cannot really describe it (gym socks?)but I'm thinking it came from the carpet, smelled old. The room did not feel "fresh", bathroom was dingy and the television was too small and old, along with the furniture and everything else, bed felt squishy as well. The walls where thin, I was actually able to hear the guy in the next room snoring!!
The freeway noise level was not an issue for us. Walked by the pool area and seemed way to small, Jacuzzi was closed.
One plus was the (included) breakfast. Everything was fresh, good coffee, and they actually had pancakes.
I would not come back here, not a good value.

Thank you so much for your review and feedback on your stay.

Over the past couple of years, we have been slowing renovating the rooms with new linens, wallcovering, and lighting. We are in the process of selecting new carpet and window treatments for our guest rooms, which we hope to be installed this winter. In 2012, we will be replacing all our televisions with 37" LCD flatscreens, as well as replacing the armoire with a lowboy dresser.

For our exterior, we have already begun the landscaping project, beginning with the pool, to provide a more warm, welcoming, and attractive frontage. For exterior paint color, though, we are limited by the palate requirements of the City plan.

Of course, you noticed the new restaurant, which was completely renovated last year and opened this past April. That is the direction we are taking with the hotel, and we hope you come visit us on your next trip to the Conejo Valley and let us know how we're doing.

“Fabulous Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

You don't normally expect a GREAT restaurant at a Best Western...but thier Tapas restaurant is not to be missed. High quality, innovative menu. The hotel rooms were very nice as well.
