Be very wary of putting a deposit for a room here!
A friend and I were attending a week long photography workshop in Santa Fe and booked a room at the Dancing Ground. There was only one room suitable for two people who did not wish to share a bed and we specifically booked that room. When we arrived, we were shown a different room than the one we booked (all the rooms have names and the name was not the one we booked nor did it look like the picture on the website). The receptionist let it slip that the "manager" had been living in the room we booked and had been for several months.
We were shown other rooms, but all of the rooms available meant sharing a bed for a week and they were very dark and dingy. We decided to find a room somewhere else and I asked to be refunded my deposit of $90. The receptionist claimed she couldn't do that kind of transaction and said I'd have to "talk to the manager" (who was nowhere to be found). We left and found a room at the Marriott (which we were very happy with).
Despite numerous calls and messages to the manager and the woman who took the booking, nobody from Dancing Ground returned my calls. I took the matter up with Visa, who refunded my money. It was an enourmous time consuming hassle.
I'm glad to see that other TripAdvisor reviewers had good experiences there, but I wouldn't stay there if it were the last room available in Santa Fe.
