As a previous employee, I remembered how beautiful Bishop's Lodge was, and how wonderful their Christmas Buffet has been in the past. This past Christmas 2011, my Partner, my best friend and I spent the money to have Christmas dinner at Bishop's Lodge. We were very disappointed. We had the buffet, which was nice, but very much like the usual Sunday buffet they have weekly. The staff were indifferent and our waiter rarely checked on us, often passing by quickly and not making eye contact, for fear that we might need something. The gratuity was automatically added, so service was lacking. Next year we will choose another location.

I haven't stayed at Bishops Lodge but was definitely considering a stay there soon. However, I emailed a polite enquiry regarding the spa services/prices and the stables/prices. I recieved a prompt reply via 2 blank emails, each with an attachment. The stable attachment did not address prices but repeatedly stressed that you must cancel 24 hrs before the ride or you would have to pay. No really anything of interest, but rather stern since I've never been there. The spa explanation evidently was not formatted for Vista (7 pages, only one with writing). I'm sure they are all very nice, but would it hurt to say, I don't know, maybe "Thanks for the inquiry", "Hope you'll join us", or more importantly "Please call if you have questions". The message I got was consistent with alot of the reviews I read.... There are too many places in Santa Fe to take a chance on this one.

The bed linens and sleeping experience were well below par for a hotel of this caliber. The mattress pad and bottom sheet were not secured to the mattress, causing the bed to come unmade during sleep. After my complaint the first night, the bed seemed to be made a bit better, but was still poor.

The location is very nice, although Santa Fe is a destination that you probably want to be within walking distance of things ... this was just a short drive out of town.

Absolutely beautiful and majectic. I would highly recommend staying here!
