“Great experience... nice/clean/cozy and convinent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Some last minute planning for New Years found us staying at one of the units of Casa Del Toro Casitas. We weren't sure what to expect, but were VERY pleased by what we found. We stayed at unit 209 Chapelle B, which was perfect for our needs. A one bedroom, with a large king bed and small kitchenette unit and bathroom. We used this as our 'home base' for our skiing but it also worked well in the evening as we could walk to every place in the plaza area!

The unit has a nice old style adobe New Mexico ambiance. Wood floors that creak add to the uniqueness. Even though the floors creak, the thick walls seem to cancel the voices from adjoining units. Don't expect a modern hotel room, these are not what they are. But if you like a comfortable place to stay, convienient to the plaza, with some old style Spanish appeal and reasonable rates, this is perfect! We never ran out of hot water, we had clean towels and a comfortable bed.

Check in/out even during off hours was easy!! The only thing we regret is not having the time to enjoy the breakfast they offer.... we were up early to hit the slopes. We will definately check them out again next time in the area.

Room Tip: check craigs list for booking oppurtunities...

“Customer service lacking”

I purchased this two night stay as a gift for myself and my daughter to stay in Santa Fe. We knew we would arrive after 6pm and let the management know. A key was left for us but no information about what hours breakfast was or where it was.
When we arrived, we found the refrigerator was not working and we had brought items that needed refrigeration.
We called the emergency number numerous times, emailed the manager and attempted calling - all to no avail. We missed breakfast the first day because no one ever emailed us back or called in the morning to let us know how or when to be there.
Later in the day (afternoon) someone finally came to fix the refrigerator.
My daughter has called several times to ask about why there was never any response to the requests and has not had an answer to her calls or emails.
The room was lovely and the 2nd day when we were able to get to breakfast, it was delicious.
It is unfortunate that the management does not respond, however, when there are issues they need to address.

I have had the unfortunate opportunity to stay at this "B&B"/vacation rental" several times now due to family members. But, NEVER again! I have stayed here in the summer and winter, note: horrible heaters (my sisters room, #6, did not even have heat), just space heaters. And one swamp cooler for an entire house, does not do the trick in 90 degree weather.
I also started bringing my own towels, linens and pillow. Not one towel will match (same with bedding) and they ALL look like they were purchased 5 years ago at a thrift store. The entire place looks unkept and dirty. Cracks in the walls, creaky floors, bugs and the kitchens are not stocked with basic kitchen items.
The breakfast were OK, if you care to take the gamble. I do not know when the last time they mopped the floor, food stuck on the wall. Let's put it this way, they must think the health code is just a suggestion. And the photo shown here is NOT the B&B....it's not anywhere near that big.
The ONLY good thing about this place is the location. On that note, after walking around Santa Fe, there are many nice places to stay (tons of B&B's) within the same walking distance. I'll spend my time and money elsewhere.

“Loved this Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

Spent 4 nights at this fabulous place. We stayed 317 McKenzie Street. D. This was a one bedroom with a separate full kitchen which had all that is required. Good size lounge with comfy furniture and wonderful floor heating. king size bed (which was so comfortable) and a bathroom off the bedroom which was spacious. Set back off the road and very private.

The extra night we stayed at the last minute had us moved into another unit as where we had stayed for the three nights had already been booked. This unit was McKenzie Street number 5 at the front. Large spacious place again with everything in one room, this was ok. We could hear the the people in the back unit talking very loudly a lot. We did prefer the privacy of unit D

Breakfast was great with a really good variety.of yum foods.

All the people that work here were brilliant in accommodating our needs and very friendly and helpful.

Will definitely go back here when we go to Santa Fe.

Thanks Guys for making our stay memorable and enjoyable :)
