“Quick Weekend in Santa Fe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

My boyfriend and took a long weekend to Santa Fe at the end of October. This is the PERFECT time of year to go to Santa Fe. No big crowds, no long lines, crisp Fall air, you've got the city to yourselves.

Hotel St. Francis was wonderful! The rooms are European style and therefore quite small, but you really don't need a lot of space, especially when it's cold and you want to cozy up with your hunny. The room has a lovely built in closet/cabinet and the windows open, french style, to the beautiful air of the region.

The hotel is in a prime location, with parking across the street. Definitely get the B&B package if they have it. It saved us a ton of money.

The hotel is not in the typical style of Santa Fe, which we really liked. Instead of the loud colors of the southwest, you get more of the subdued creams and grays of the Spanish Mission. Simple, elegant, calming, and lovely after a day of blues, reds, oranges. The floors are incredible, old hard wood that creak as you walk around. Much warmer than the Spanish tile of the other hotels and B&Bs.

The staff is very nice and the bar is great! Lots of interesting drinks and a cozy atmosphere.

Room Tip: Get the B&B package. Any room is great, even the very small ones.

“Close to plaza with rather small rooms”

So often it's the staff that really contribute the first impression to a hotel, and it was certainly the case at the Hotel St. Francis. We had booked two rooms, one of which was not ready at 3 pm. We told the clerk that we'd gather in one room for the wait. Instead of saying she'd call the room, she told us to check back in 30 minutes. It's a shame when guests must educate the staff on good customer service. The lobby area is large and inviting although spare in decoration, which was fine--a lot of beige. More debilitating for a weekend get away with friends was the fact that the rooms had only one chair, so there was really no place to gather for a chat and glass of wine--other than the bar itself. The bed was comfortable although suffering that extraordinary number of pillows that seem so popular--but mainly useless. The bathroom is a step up, which can be trying in middle of the night. Although the sink is in the actual bedroom, that can be helpful for multi-tasking when two are sharing a room. Bathrobes were provided, a nice touch. Wireless was free. The breakfast was so-so; I ordered Inger's Swedish pancakes, but lukewarm on arrival. Much better to go across the street catty-corner to Pasqual's a genuinely wonderful cafe with terrific can-do service.

Room Tip: Ask for room where windows are not blocked by the building.

“Fantastic location, stylish little room, standout concierge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Just spent a lovely weekend at the St.. Francis. I was in Albuquerque for a conferance with a friend, and we decided to head to Santa Fe for the weekend. We booked directly with the hotel the day of our arrival, and were offered a very reasonable rate.

We found the hotel in a perfect location - right in the center of town - close to everything! The best restaurants, music, shops and galleries are all right out the door and down the block.

The room was small - tiny, in fact. There was barely room to walk around the queen bed. There was one hardback chair, nightstands and the closet/tv. There was really nowhere to put our two suitcases. There was no coffee pot, and the toilet and shower were squeezed into a tiny space reminding me of my college dorm room, with the stylish vessel sink in the main section of the room right at the foot of the bed.

But, in spite of the cosy quarters, the bed was comfortable with a down comforter and lots of fluffy pillows, and was the room was decorated in an inviting, Contemporary, rustic style. We definitely had a good night's sleep.

A very special shout out to Ren, the hotel's all-around, terrific front desk manager/concierge. From check-in, Ren went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, pointing out restaurants, and music venues for us to check out. In the morning she developed a custom tailored walking tour that took us to many off-the-beaten-path spots around town. She helped make our visit to such a special town even more special. Thank you, Ren and to the rest of the staff at the St Francis!

“Small rooms, poor bathroom, good bar and common area”

Rooms and very small and bathroom although clean was old and seems falling apart. Receptionist had a had time finding the reservation and seemed clueless.

Bar is very good, and highlight of the hotel would be the bartender. Overall, next time I would go in for a drink but would not stay there.

“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We had a great room on the third floor. Yes, it was small, but so was the price. Bed was super comfortable, with high end linens. Shower was great. OK, the bathroom is a little cramped, but no other compaints beside that. Really close to plaza. Inside lobby has lots of charm and a blazing fireplace. Upstairs has lots of historical pictures of Santa Fe. We enjoyed our stay.
