“Fantastic stay. What a nice surprise!”

I lived here years ago and never have stayed in a hotel except for Inn on the Alameda. This is a great little place. It's a peaceful hotel, and its a unique style with interior apartment like rooms. Our room is 224 and its a junior suite. We are upstairs so we have a bit of a balcony but we never use it since we don't smoke and it's a cold week. The second day of our stay my wife suffered a separated shoulder due to an out of control juvenile snowboarder so we've spent the week walking around town and doing the touristy things I never did as a resident. Every night we requested a fire to be built by the staff and they were always willing to help us out within ten to fifteen minutes. The restaurant here is very good and the bar is nicely decorated. I happen to like the coffee here and like others have said, we are literally feet from the plaza. I could throw a rock from our front door into the square. You will be pleasantly surprised. This place will only continue to get better as the new management settles in.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stay here due to location and price. The hotel lacks some services like good coffee in the morning and the lighting in the bathrooms is horrible. Location and parking here are excellent and the place is a great deal for the price. They do need to do some updating like putting the correct coffee makers in to fit with the correct coffee packs etc. Also, if you get a room in the back of the place, you are going to have to drag luggage a long ways. I would still come back but the owners could stand to bring the rooms up to standard lighting wise.

Dear Largeandy,
Thank you for taking the time to comment on Hotel Chimayo de Santa Fe. I’m sorry to read you were less than pleased with the coffee in our guest rooms. I was wondering did you have a chance to visit our amazing new restaurant Tia’s Cocina. We do offer some of the best tasting coffee that I have ever had the privilege of tasting, not to mention the best Chili in New Mexico! I wish we had known that you were having issues with the coffee maker in your room, we would have surly rectified that for you. The next time you do visit us, our bellman is always on hand and more than happy to carry your luggage up the stairs to your guest suite for you. From your comments I’m not sure if you were aware of this, but we did spend most of last year undergoing renovations and adding upgrades to our hotel. We added items like all new bedding, carpet, and new lighting to all of our 56 guest suites. We even added our new restaurant and bar! So this is the first time I’m hearing of any guest room having poor lighting. I will definitely check into the room you were in immediately to see why your lighting was so poor. At Hotel Chimayo de Santa Fe, our goal is, and has always been 100% guest satisfaction. This is why I want you to know that we take all comments, good or bad seriously and we want so much to learn and always improve. Once again thank you for your comments and as always we look forward to your next visit!

“PERFECT LOCATION...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

This hotel is just FEET from the plaza. Our room (a Jr. Suite) had a sitting room, a fridge, microwave, bar area, TWO T.V.'s AND a fireplace at a VERY reasonable price.. (The hotel taxes in Santa Fe are outrageous, 'though no fault of the property.) And if you arrive by car there is a "resort type" daily parking fee of $14 plus tax.. However, the fact that there IS parking is important.
The ambience of the place is great, the decor very Southwestern, and the staff do their best to accomodate your needs...
The food in their resteraunt was good, (we only ate breakast there) and overall I would say that this is a "hidden gem" of a property to experience in Santa Fe, and the IDEAL place if you are visiting for more than 1-2 days!
P.S. I have been to Santa Fe many times, and stayed in it's BEST properties, but none of them was any better than this hotel... (And some were more than TWICE as expensive!)

Room Tip: Try and get upgraded to the Jr. Suites, especially if you are there for longer than 1-2 nights...

“Too many crosses”

The hotel has a great ambiance. As you walk into the hotel you are meet by the sights of a fire and burning candles. The smell of burning pinion pine meets you at the door. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Room service is prompt and courteous. There views aren't great but the location of the hotel makes it easy to get to all the shops and the plaza. I would recommend to others.

Dear Amanda,

On behalf of the entire staff here at Hotel Chimayo de Santa Fe; I want to thank you for taking the time to write such nice comments about our Hotel. We take such pride in making sure all of our guests leave Hotel Chimayo, and even Santa Fe for that matter, with a burning desire to return. I must say, that for me as well, there is nothing better than the smell of pinion pine burning in our real wood burning fireplaces. I am truly glad you enjoyed that too! You are correct, we do not have the greatest views that our amazing city has to offer and that’s because we are only a half a block from our Plaza (the center of everything in our charming town). So what we lack in views, we surely make up for in culture, and an authenticity that is second to none. This is why you did see many crosses through out our hotel. This is just us showing our guests a small part of Chimayo’s culture, not their religion. Once again thank you for you comments and we look forward to your return in the near future.
