“Great hotel - loved the hot tub!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We had a fabulous stay here over Christmas. The room was warm and spacious and the beds, while not the best, we're comfortable enough. We skipped breakfast at the hotel (which was fine - tortillas, hard boiled eggs, chile, cereal, juice, oranges) in favor of walking next door to The Pantry, which I read about here. Possibly the best breakfast ever! We went every day.

We hardly spent any time at the hotel, but the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The highlight was definitely, without a doubt, the outdoor hot tub, which we visited every day.

The hotel is a 10 minute drive from the center of town, which was no problem at all for us. The parking was extremely cheap and we never had a problem finding a spot. When we wanted to drink with dinner, we just took a cab there and back for $15 each way, which is still a lot less than the price for a hotel in town.

We had a fabulous time and will be back!

“Our Family loves the El Rey!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We pass through Santa Fe every year, (for five years) and always look forward to our stay in the historic Route 66 El Rey Inn. We request the same room every time, because it just feels like home. The staff is wonderful, the breakfast is great, and the outdoor hot tub is the best! I can't imagine a better place to stay in Santa Fe. The loving attention to maintain to all the details of this place make it very special.

“Great option outside of downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

We were looking for a cheaper place in Santa Fe that wasn't too far away from downtown. The El Rey was rated very highly online so we gave it a shot. It's located on the other side of the highway, but only a 10-minute drive from downtown. While on a busy street, the layout and landscaping of the inn makes it a quiet and cozy place. The inn is decorated in an attractive Route 66/Southwestern style and includes several different buildings surrounding a large pool and hot tub, an open area, and a main building. Staff are extremely friendly. Rooms are clean and attractive, if a bit dated. TV channels were confusing and hard to find what you wanted. Free breakfast is included, but we didn't have it. Eat at the Pantry right next door!

“The El Rey Inn came to our rescue!”

After a bad experience at a five star hotel on the outskirts of Santa Fe, our family reunion needed to move to a new hotel in a hurry. My dad had fond memories of the El Rey Inn from 20 years ago. They found unique and suitable rooms for all four of the couples in our party. The service was excellent, the breakfast was tasty, the owners and staff very friendly. I highly recommend the El Rey Inn.
