Took the Victoria Clipper up to Friday Harbor on what turned out to be the last really nice weekend of the summer in Sept. 2011. We stayed at the Earthbox which is only a 2-3 block walk to the marina. Shuttle transportation was provided upon our arrival and departure. The staff at the Earthbox were outstanding. Our room was very tastefully decorated in earth tones. There were six pillows on each bed!!! The beds were very comfortable. There was a microwave and mini fridge in our room. We had a ground floor unit, which was nice, as the weather was quite warm and we were able to bring our chairs outside to enjoy the the nice temperatures. The indoor pool looked very nice. We had planned on taking a dip but just didn't have the time. They had a large rack with many bicycles that you could check out and and use. A nice little feature to see more of the island. When we arrived I set my suitcase on the floor to change in to some shorts. It sat there until it was time to leave. Low and behold, my suitcase completely blocked from view the box fan, which I had failed to notice upon arrival. That fan would have come in handy since it was so warm out.
The town itself is cute. We spent time in every shop there. There was a nice variety of places to eat. Two things surprised me about the town. 1. The variety of foreign accents that I heard. 2. The town is very, very dog friendly. There were water dishes available to them and plastic bags to pick up after them. Lots of trash receptacles and benches to sit on. We did a whale watching tour and were fortunate enough to see J, K and L pods. AKA a Superpod when they are all together.
