I would rate this hotel 5 stars if it weren't for just a few things.
SERVICE - outstanding
ROOM SERVICE - prompt, hot and tasty
ROOMS - see note below
BEDS - very comfortable
PRICE - reasonable for the quality of the stay
PARKING - pricy $35 per night with tax
AMBIANCE - very nice, historical therefore older but very clean (see note below)
LOCATION - great, central to many great things within walking distance
When we first arrived we were assigned a room on the 1st floor right next to the pool area. The room was very small, with very low ceilings, and double glass paned doors leading to the pool. We could hear every word of conversations at the pool area and knew this was going to be a huge problem with noise and trying to get good sleep. The comforter on the bed was also not very clean. They subsequently moved us to the 5th floor with a room that had a street view. This room was much better. Very spacious, tall ceilings, a small couch and sitting area. The bathrooms with both rooms were fairly small with one sink and small tub. This is an older property and I would imagine that at some point they are going to have to remodel these bathrooms to stay in keeping with their price point. The main reasons I cannot give this hotel 5 stars is the thin walls and single pane double glass doors which are the entrance to every room. The rooms are not faced with interior hallways but rather exterior hallways facing the street or the river or the outdoor pool area. We left the fan on in the bathroom every night as well as a white noise app on our phone and were still awoken with people walking by at 2am in their heels, people yelling on the street, or simply people next door flushing their toilets or running water. This is not necessarily the fault of the hotel as this is a historical building. But it is not easy trying to get a good night's sleep here. Otherwise, we felt everything else about this hotel is top notch!
