“Great Proximity to Convention Center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Our second stay at this location for business. We chose it for it's close proximity to the Convention Center, just about 20-30 steps. Room size and furnishings are nice, but not exceptional. Restaurant on River level serves buffets for all meals, or you can order from the menu. Food pricing is comparable to other restaurants in the area. However, selection on buffet not as ample as another favorite hotel restaurant buffet, the Menger. Self parking is okay, but has several very tight corners to negotiate which can be difficult in a large SUV. We were in the room when Housekeeping service came earlier in the day. Later that afternoon we called for additional soap and towels and two staff member came to completely service our room! Nice touch.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less street noise. South side views of convention center roof, but quiet.

“Great location on the riverwalk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Connected to the convention center, the location is the best in San Antonio. It was so nice to be able to leave my coat in my room and not drag it along to the CC. The bar is a hit at night, and the coffee shop is always open- so nice for a late snack and drink. All of the staff I interacted with were extremely polite and helpful.
The rooms are very clean, but on the small side. The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were great. I had a nice view of the Tower of the Americas, too. Loved having a tube of toothpaste, along with the usual shampoo, conditioner, and lotion.
You can easily walk to any restaurant or destination on the Riverwalk. I left my car in the garage and never needed it with so much within walking distance.
My only complaint would be the charge for internet. It's not even complimentary in the lobby. They also charge per device to connect. The convention center does have free internet for light surfing and email, which really helped.

“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

This was the first time for me to check myself into a hotel, but hotel personnel assisted in the process. It was also the first time for me to find a travel size tube of toothpaste together with the more commonly available shampoo, conditioner, and lotion in the bathroom. Another rarity was that wake up calls were handled by humans, rather than machines. One is also offered a 'reminder' wake up call. The staff was friendly and professional. There were no issues with elevators, ice machines, etc. The rooms were properly cleaned and I had a great view. During my entire three day stay, I had only pleasant experiences.

“For a Grand Hyatt, not so grand”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Grand Hyatts on the east coast tend to have special touches and furnishings that add elegance and comfort. Not so much here. It's nice enough, but the furnishings are a little on the discount side. The hotel is next to the convention center and has an exit on the River Walk. It's a convenient walk to downtown.

Common areas (lobby, bar, restaurant) are well appointed and inviting. There is a parking deck next door ($25/day). Internet is not included in the room charge. The bed comfort was excellent. There is airport transportation, but it's a shuttle service, not a hotel van. Taxis from the airport are about $25.

Room Tip: The floors have several long hallways and some of the rooms are a long walk from the elevator. If t...
