The place was very easy to find, right off the freeway. Complaints of shady area are somewhat unfounded. Little to no parking lot to speak of. Main office has a lobby as large as a bathroom stall, extremely small with no A/C. The single staff member I saw was nice. Most of the rooms were in the back with about 6 places to park with very little room to backup and maneuver. About 12 rooms total. Our room was clean, toiletries available, clean towels, linens. Hot water readily available. Free HBO! No noise heard from neighbors. Bed was on a wooden frame and it tore up my shins bad! Otherwise, decent experience, but will definitely stay downtown next time. Worth it alone for the accessibility to attractions and restaurants. The money you save on gas could be used on the room. Rudy's BBQ was up the road though, that was nice!

My wife and I just returned home from the graduation of our granddaughter in San Antonio. We stayed at the American Motel through recommendation from others at Trip Advisor. They were right! Although not much to look at (and no pool, grass, limited landscaping etc.) this place is well taken care of by by friendly on-site owners who know the lodging business. The room was clean with up to date furnishings (rooms are about the size of the average Days Inn etc.). We appreciated the micro-refrigerator, the free wireless internet access, the expanded cable TV, the ironing board-iron and the wife liked the high dryer. Nothing to complain about, especially for the price. Good security lighting and cameras throughout the small property. Many restaurants and stores within a short drive. Right on bus line. Again, for the price, we were happily surprised.

This is one of the best little motel that i have stayed in san antonio. The rooms were upto standard and clean. The peoples at hotel are always helpful. And i booked this hotel after i read good reviews about the hotel and that realy helped me out well.

Room was small and clean but came with few extras. Staff was courteous and friendly. Beware of the handyman made bed frames in the rooms with 2 queen beds. I banged my shin terribly when walking to the bathroom during the night.
