Ok if you want to stay near the riverwalk pick a downtown hotel. If your budget is tight check out La Quinta and Red Roof downtown. they are good enough if you are trying to save money. Personally I would try get something even better but if money is the issue, stick with those two and you'll be ok. Also remember if you stay at this SUPER 8 you will have to pay to park down by the Riverwalk or any other venue. Parking adds $10 to $20 per day. Most of the hotels downtown have free parking but be sure to check first. If you want to stay away from the Riverwalk and search for a bargain, I would try up around Riitman Road. The neighborhood of this Super 8 is not good nor is the neighborhood for the Travel lodge or the Days in that are up the road. The problem with this specific Super 8 is there is nothing but bad neighborhood around it. If you want to eat any where you'll need to drive 20- 30 mins either North or to down town. There is a whataburger across the street but you aren't going to eat there every day. So again if you are looking to spend your entire vacation on the Riverwalk I would suggest just staying down there!
For the hotel specifically I will say the cleaning staff does well for what they have. The hotel is run down for sure and in need of an update. My entrance door was black with fingerprints, the furniture was missing parts and the tub was quite scary (say mold in the faucet handle). The best part however was I had a HUGE king suite for a very low price! If this is your only goal in your trip to San Antonio, the hotel isn't bad. There is night security in the parking lot which is needed. Also front desk personal seemed very nice and friendly.
