“A True STAR in the Lonestar State!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

My husband and I had a staycation at the Hotel Valencia Riverwalk and were overwhelmed by its modern charm and sexy ambience.

The hotel is a real gem in the heart of Alamo City. Its mood soothing decor, client conscious staff, modern architecture, escape worthy views and delicious full service restaurant make it a must visit hotel!!!

We were incredibly impressed with the bar and balcony...both of which set the mood for romance. The drink selections are plentiful and the bar staff are eager to let the libations flow making it easy to transport you to another place...you forget you're still in TX after a while!

The rooms include beautiful, sleek, dark furniture, a full length mirror, flat screen TV and a nice bathroom. The bed was super comfy and our view of the atrium's fire pit was super cool!

My honey and I noshed on some of the most delectable Texas culinary concoctions at Citrus. The restaurant offers a three course and four course menu that's chock full of delicious foods like crab cakes, blackmore wagyu beef carpaccio and quail eggs.

We thoroughly enjoyed EVERYTHING ABOUT this TRUE STAR in the Lonestar State!!! A MUST visit if you ever find yourself in the Alamo City!!!

Room Tip: Any room is a good room. You could overlook the Riverwalk or the Atrium...all in all, you won't...

What an absolute rave review! We're thrilled to hear you and your husband loved your staycation with us back in October. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience here. You touched on everything— the architecture, the sleek decor of the bedrooms, lovely views from the balcony, friendly staff and of course... the food at Citrus. We're lucky to house such an outstanding restaurant. The only thing your romantic weekend sounds like it's missing is an in-room spa treatment!

The next time the two of you need a little getaway, please come back to us at Hotel Valencia. We'd love to have you again.

Warm regards,
Beth Smith, Valencia Group

1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Cobwebs in rooms, rooms full of dust - Sink and bathtub did not drain. Their Vallet 3-4 standing around while guest returning to their rooms waiting in line for several minutes, then one of the valett was rude and told us to go around again....

Room Tip: The location is good but will not stay here again.

H Thomas,

I'm very sorry for and concerned about the conditions you encountered in your room, as well as your experience with the valet. Neither of these issues are characteristic of Hotel Valencia, as we take utmost care in both the cleanliness of our accommodations as well as the courtesy of our staff. Our maintenance team makes regular rounds to all rooms in the hotel to ensure all elements (electrical, plumbing, etc.) are functioning properly. Similarly, our valet staff is highly trained to provide professional and prompt service, and we rarely receive any complaints. I appreciate you bringing both of these issues to my attention.

Please rest assured we have followed up with management in both areas to ensure an even more pleasant stay for future guests. We hope you still enjoyed your time in San Antonio. If you return, we would love the opportunity to welcome you back again; I know we have what it takes to impress you.

Warm regards,

“Comfortable Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

The hotel is fairly nice however it could use some more lighting in the check-in area and in the rooms. It's in close proximity to the Riverwalk and within walking distance of the Alamo.
The rooms are a good size and come with a full complement of drinks in the mini-bar. The beds were comfortable and clean. The food at the on-site restaurant (Citrus) was pretty good. The bar doesn't open until 4pm, but there are plenty of food/drink options near the hotel. A few of the employees at the reception were not very helpful to say the least.
Overall, it was a comfortable stay and I would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Most rooms are going to face the street and you will hear traffic regardless of floor.

Charlie,

Thank you for staying with us back in January and for taking the time to leave a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your comfortable room as well as your meal at Citrus. I'll certainly share your feedback about the reception staff, too. We want to always provide the helpful hospitality for which we've become known!

$29 per night parking is ridiculous!
Bad matresses covered with Egytian cotton sheats, ridiculous.
Loud street noise and thin walls between rooms, ridiculous.
The employees are uneducated zombies and are some of the worst i have ever encountered, ridiculous!
Happy hour only during the week, ridiculous.
This hotel is ridiculous!

Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to review your visit. I'm glad you enjoyed our convenient location but am sorry to hear you were disappointed otherwise. If you don't care for valet service, there is alternative parking in a garage only one block away from the hotel. I'm also very sorry for any noise— its typically very quiet, within the hotel and also along our more-secluded spot on the Riverwalk. On nights that seem to have a lot more activity, we do our best to keep the hotel quiet. As for the customer service, I'm very concerned. Our staff is a highly-trained team of courteous, helpful individuals, and I'm sorry if this wasn't what you experienced during your visit. I will pass your comments along so that this is addressed immediately.

Again, I'm sorry if you didn't enjoy your stay with us. We still hope to welcome you back and show you a much better time; I know we have what it takes to impress you.

Thanks again,
Beth Smith, Valencia Group

“Could be great but.....”

good is where it stands. I only have two bones to pick with Valencia; and only because they hand you a card claiming to be one of the best hotels in the nation that I'm going to hold their feet to the fire. First, some of the employees have a disconnet with the customer. Service has to be above par from all your people. One (or 3) bad apples can ruin the whole batch. Second, the lobby restrooms were disgusting; not a big deal if you didn't have a restaurant down the same hall. Dirty bathrooms always raise a red flag.

BUT, this is my 3rd or 4th stay here so it certainly has its charm. The area around it has developed quite nicely. There is a Starbuck and another coffee shop just out the door. A few good restaurants have also sprung up down the street, so the location is certainly favorable. Great riverwalk access, but remember most places are easier to get to by using the street level. The hotel rooms themselves have been well kept with minor wear and tear. I would strongly suggest banning smoking in the entire hotel and avoid "non-smoking" rooms smelling like smoke <==BIG PET PEEVE. My favorite all time Mexican food restaurant is right up the street. Ask for directions to Blanco Cafe and enjoy breakfast or lunch - yum yummy yum.

Room Tip: There realy are no great view rooms and all rooms are pretty quiet. There are a few balcony rooms...

Thank you for your review back in January! I'm happy you enjoy your stays here. It's true that we have won awards for our hotel design and our hospitality, but that doesn't mean there aren't hiccups here and there. I appreciate you taking the time to bring some concerns to our attention, especially concerning the lobby restrooms. That certainly doesn't sound characteristic of our hotel! I've passed your comments along so that we can address these issues with staff management and the maintenance team. Again, thank you for your compliments and for keeping us on our toes! We hope to welcome you back again soon.
