I am always a big fan of Hampton Inns. However, this one does not measure up. The location is downtown and just blocks from all of the attractions, but it appears to be in a seedy location. The staff was very polite and accommodating. Once I got to my room, I found it very warm. This particular day on the 1st day of February, the outside temperature was 80 degress. My room was warm because housekeeping chose to set the heat on and at a temperature of 74 degrees. I left for dinner and set the a/c at 68 degrees. Upon returning several hours later, the room was not what I consider cool. It ran all night and it never cooled down. The other issue was that the every time I flushed the toilet the water would not shut off. I had to left the lid and manually fix it, which I find completely disgusting. I went down for breakfast in the morning and the lobby was so warm even though it was another warm day. The breakfast area is laid out strange, food is set up on opposite side of the dining room. So strange that I did not even realize that there was more food on the other side. Overall, the hotel does not appear to be clean and could use some updating. On a positive note, when I told the front desk about the toilet, they were very appreciative of being told and acted like they would get right on it. My business associate who stayed in another room on another floor had the exact complaint about the a/c in his room as well. I will not be staying at this Hampton location on future business trips. There are too many other hotel selections in downtown San Antonio.

Hampton Inn never fails to provide a great value and a friendly staff. This inn was very close to all the downtown San Antonio attractions, only a couple of blocks from the Alamo and the city buses stopped right out front. The room was clean and nicely appointed. I did have a problem with the hair dryer not working but it was fixed almost immediately. The staff was always helpful suggesting sites to see or good restaurants. Compared to the other hotels located only a couple of blocks away on the River Walk Hampton's rates were terrific. Can't wait to get back to San Antonio!

Had a quick overnight stay for business at this Hampton in November 2011. The front desk attendant and housekeeping staff were very friendly and strived to make sure you were satisfied with your stay.

It had all the standard Hampton amenities, the room was spacious, modern and clean. One elevator was out of service the limited time I was there. One quirk in the layout was that you had to walk past the laundry room/cleaning HQ between the front desk and guest rooms, not a bad thing, but usually they tend to hide this loud, humid area from guests.

Location - It is right off of I-35 and my room looked right at it. The Alamo & Riverwalk area are located a few blocks over a down, but still pretty walkable. One thing I did notice on my walk there was the birds. Wow, were they noisy! Hundreds of these black birds sqawking everywhere you go.

All in all a decent place to stay if you're passing thru town and want to see the downtown sites.

Hampton Inns have a pretty standard quality wherever you go, and this one is no exception. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable, and a hot breakfast is included. The great things about this location in particular are the free parking and close location to downtown San Antonio. Most hotels on the riverwalk are twice the price and tack on $30 bucks a night for parking. The location really is great too. You're only about three blocks from the Alamo and the riverwalk, and it takes less than five minutes to walk there. I've stayed both on the riverwalk and in the Hampton, and for me, it's just not worth it to be on the river when you can get free parking, free breakfast, and a quality hotel stay for half the price.
