Can't get much more "real" than writing this from the motel while we're still here. But thank goodness we're checking-out shortly! Whew...this was an effort that was more effort than it deserved to be.
We'll get the positives out of the way fast and furiously - because it's pretty easy to do. The check-in was adequate - the front desk staff were "friendly". The room was available when we checked-in, and it was where I requested it to be. The room itself was fresh-smelling, in clean condition, and ready for our use. Free wireless internet throughout the building worked every time. (just need to be sure to use the password that the front desk will provide you with)
Yeah! The good news was first...so, if you're not in to hearing the realities of these things after you hear the good news, you can stop reading now.
* Location: located in an industrial park, not near anything within walking distance, and quite frankly, you wouldn't want to walk (after hours) anyway. There isn't a sign by the I-10 feeder road, so if you miss the Beckwith sign, plan a u-turn and try again.
* Clientele: well...I won't pass any judgement here. However, if you are a mature adult, family-oriented person who seeks a pleasureable, peaceful, vacation or business stay - stay away! Rowdy, rambunctious, rude, pushy, loud loud loud, un-supervised, hall-running, and on and on and on... you KNOW what I'm getting at, without saying it.
* Indoor Pool: small, cold, lacking in towels, over-crowded with rambunctious, rude, un-supervised children.
* Hot Tub: hot...without the bubbles. Something about some kind of "notify the front desk 10-minutes before use" message on the door. Either way, if you're used to a hot-tub with bubbles, you're outta-luck.
* 10pm close time for Pool: Apparently that was subjective. Mr Friendly at the front desk demanded our quiet, peaceful family the ability to swim a single minute after 10, but the second night had a pool room crammed full of the...ready for it...clientele I have described several times in this review.
* Two elevators - 1 for use: Elevator 1 was out-of-service for most of the 2-night stay. I wonder if this has something to do with the clientele...???
* Breakfast: no, this is not breakfast. Stale bread, stale biscuits, seriously lacking in substenance, variety and flavor. The only hot item is waffles, which are cooked for 1 minute shorter than they should be. The items were rarely restocked, and more-often-than-not, not refilled because they were "out". Oh, and have I mentioned this before: with the clientele here, good luck in "enjoying" whatever rations you can find here in the first place. Seemed one of the fine adults would "hog" the waffle-makers - both - feeding his family of 12 making waffle, after waffle, after waffle after...well, you get the point.
We haven't even begun the check-out process, but are highly dissapointed in the lack of a speedy check-out option. Well, at least, I couldn't find our bill under the door when we woke up this morning.
First...and last. Doesn't deserver a second chance, and is an unfortunate end to our Texacation. But what is different than a lot of other folks who think some places deserve second chances, this one...does not.
