Pros: Central location if you don't mind walking. This property is located just a few short blocks from the Mercado (one trip only will suffice) and several blocks from the Riverwalk area. Others have posted about the homeless folks at night, it is true but we never had an issue. The area is very clean and we never felt unsafe at night. If you rent a car you're also very near the highway to take a few recommended trips into Hill Country.
Cons: After reading other reviews regarding the musty odors in rooms on the first floor we were happy to find a king room on the second floor. Our room was "cozy" however the musty odors are not contained to the first floor alone. Rather than switch rooms we simple kept the fan running continuously to remedy this issue. Michael Cruz at the front desk was fabulous. He personafies customer service, unfortunately I cannot say the same for the rest of the staff. The afternoon desk clerk was never without a phone to her ear. The complimentary breakfast 6:30-9:30 M-Sa was buttoned up tight precisely at the stroke of 9:30. All the food was removed anything else was locked up tight. Two of the four mornings we had breakfast there the maintenance man was hauling bags of trash thru the dining area and cleaning the air filters in the ceiling. Other than that the room was clean, plenty of hot water and the plumbing had no issues. Ladies be ware, the bathroom lighting is less than flattering for make-up application. There is one large flourscent fixture in the center of the bathroom and a small canned light above the sink. The combination of the two makes for some pretty scary shadowing. Parking is conveniently located across the street for $10/day, be advised however to choose a spot in the center of the lot which allows you to pull thru or back out lest you be blocked in.
