Beautiful and wonderful location. Excellent beds, as would expect from a starwood hotel. I like staying here when I want to stay near the riverwalk!

I would like to give this hotel the score of excellent ++. The entire staff during my stay (January 12-17, 2012) went above and beyond service, and it was done with such kindness, knowledge and excellent service!! The history in the hotel was unique, the restaurant's breakfast and their salmon dinner was wonderful, and the location of the hotel was very convenient. I will always stay at the Sheraton Gunter Hotel when I am in San Antonio, and will recommend it to my co-workers, friends, and anyone, if they are traveling to San Antonio. The entire staff made my hotel stay a very pleasant and memorable one!!

My husband and I booked a queen size room for a 4 day weekend getaway, and was blown away! LOVED the Historic atmosphere of the hotel, which brought in the feel of the what the city portrays! It was so neat to see the history behind the hotel in the lobby. LOVED the hotel bar. Even though the room and bathroom that we stayed in was slightly smaller than most modern hotels, it didn't bother us because if it was any different the charm of the hotel would be lost. We choose a room with a view which meant by the street (on the 9th floor), and much to our surprise there was not as much street noise as you would think. With the air conditioning fan on during the night we could barely hear anything. The food was amazing! We never ate in the restaurants itself, but we ordered room service for breakfast, lunch and desert. Everything we had was really good. A lot better than other hotels we have stayed at before. The staff was so friendly, and very helpful in telling us how to get around the city. The GM even emailed me after our stay to follow-up. Very friendly! Typically you don't see GM's make the effort he did!

The Sheraton Gunter hotel is located smack-dab in the best part of the San Antonio downtown. It is a charming old hotel that has renovated rooms that are modern and comfortable. I was impressed with the nice touches in my room on the 11th floor concierge level. They even thought to provide me with a set of foam earplugs to cut out the street noise. The lobby was excellent - full of historical items of interest, friendly staff and a great restaraunt. The food was pefect. I really enjoyed the chat with the desk clerk when I checked in. San Antonio is a great town to visit and I will plan on staying at the Gunter during my next trip.
