Overall, I got a good value with this hotel. It is not luxurious, but suited my needs perfectly.
It was easy to find from I-10 (look for their prominent sign). It was easily accessible from the highway and was an easy, short drive to both downtown and the airport. There was an abundant number of department stores (Walmart, Target), restaurants (IHOP), fast food (Wendy’s, Quizno’s, A&W, Long John Silver’s, Starbucks), and gas stations within a short drive. DeZavala Road had lots of options, which is where I was doing business and it was a very short drive. I had no issues with their free parking.
The staff was friendly and willing to assist with any of my needs. They did allow me to check-in early. The cleaning ladies were less friendly than the desk staff, but they did a sufficient job cleaning the room. The carpet was a bit old and worn, but otherwise the room was cleaned daily to my standards. The room smelt strongly of disinfectant, which my clothes came home smelling like.
All room entrances were indoors. There was an elevator.
The room itself was not crammed. It did have a refrigerator and microwave, which I requested, so I am not sure if these are standard in all rooms. It also had a TV (functional, although not state of the art), alarm clock, iron and ironing board, blow dryer, coffee pot, and a desk. There was also a recliner, but it was quite old and uncomfortable. I did try to put the footrest up on it and had trouble getting it to return. The AC was plentiful, as was the hot water. The cable channel selections were sufficient. The wireless internet worked well and was easy to access. I would have liked the room lit a bit more bright, but it was sufficient. The towels were a bit old and worn, but again sufficient.
The hotel’s business center that they advertised was a computer in the lobby. There was a small outdoor pool that was often inhabited by children and families. Continental breakfast was served in the lobby. There was a laundry facility, as well as vending machines and video games. I did not use any of these.
The hotel seemed to be occupied by mostly families on vacation (possibly going to Six Flags). There were often children running the halls, room doors slamming, and small room gatherings that I could hear from my room. These weren’t beyond what you might expect at most motels catering towards families.
For me, this was a great value close to where I needed to be. It was not a fancy place to stay, but offered everything that I needed. I would stay here again.
