“Google directions are incorrect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I like Hyatt Place as a brand. Rooms are good sized and the lobby is nice. I also like how close it is to the Quarry for food and shopping, as well as the Alamo Heights area.

I wish the complimentary breakfast offered cooked eggs (which is in line with other hotels at this price), but I do like that they have a small, cash bar for wine and beer in the evening (which many do not have). I also wish that they had two queens instead of two doubles to better support families.

The google directions are incorrect. While the road in front is a divided highway, you do not have to go around the block (as the google directions show). There is a cut-out for a left turn at the hotel when heading North. So, it is easier to enter then it seems.

Also, the couch is L shaped so I was not sure if it folded out into a bed. It does, with the bed running along the extended side of the couch. Very roomy.

“A great value and superior service”

We spent 5 nights in this hotel when we moved to San Antonio and were waiting to close on our house. The rooms are very large and include a sectional sofa. The free breakfast offered each morning had enough items to make everyone happy and they rotate some of the selections to keep it interesting.

The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping is what made our stay here so great. My daughter got sick during our stay and they were more than happy to keep a box of Popsicles in the freezer and grab one for us whenever we needed one.

Topping all of this off is the location right next to the Quarry Market, where you can find anything you might need from groceries to restaurants to a giant movie theatre. It's location right on 281 makes it very easy to get anywhere relatively quickly. You can't best the free parking and free WiFi.

“Perfect for Business Travelers!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

This is a business class hotel, so you don't deal with kiddos much, which is nice. Decor is contemporary throughout the hotel, and all was in great repair & very clean. Guest rooms are spacious with a generously sized living area and bar/fridge/coffee area, and a nice desk/table arrangement. There is a nice assortment of coffee & hot teas in-suite. The beds were very comfortable, countertops are granite, the drawers were spacious, there are plenty of big mirrors, including two full-lengths directly across from each other (check the back of your hair, ladies!). There is a very large TV mounted to be easily viewable from both the bedroom & living area, which are separted by a partial wall. In contrast to most hotels of this type, there is 24 hr. room service (it's not gourmet, but you're not paying gourmet prices, either!). Downstairs they have snacks, sodas, sandwiches & salads that you can purchase when you'd like. Complimentary breakfast with various cut fruit, whole fruit, bagels, hard-boiled eggs, mini-pastries, coffee, juice (think I got it all) is available in the mornings, and they also cook your breakfast to order (for a charge, posted on a blackboard). The downstairs bar is open 'til midnight every night, serving wine, beer & basic mixed drinks with complimentary crunchy snack mix. Outdoors, they have a pool (no hot tub in this hotel). This hotel is in the same class as Aloft, and I think it blows Aloft out of the water on all fronts. Staff members are friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The ONLY thing I can think of to recommend is that they have nothing for a vegan to eat. Vegetarians have cheese pizza, salad, or tomato bisque that I saw. Overall, would heartily recommend this hotel!

“Nice property and great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

We stayed at this hotel due to its proximity to the airport. We were in the area visiting family but had really early flights out the last morning and so we decided to stay nearby at this hotel. That being said, we were just there one night and didn't explore the area around the hotel. However, the night we were there was very pleasant.

The lobby area is very chic and our room was very, well, roomy with nice decor and a very comfy sofa that we hung out on for a few hours while watching some movies. Toiletries provided were Hyatt Regency style spa products and toothpaste - nice touch.

The staff was extremely friendly. I needed a couple bottles of water and had gone down to the front desk to buy one, but had only taken a $7 in cash with me down from my room. While there, I saw that they had an awesome display of pastries and asked how much for the mini bundt cake. It turned out that I hadn't brought down enough cash for the waters (which were $2.40 each) and the cake also, so I said "oh well, just the water." As the front desk guy was ringing me up, he said "do you want your cake heated up?" I thought maybe he hadn't heard me, so I repeated that I hadn't brought down enough cash and that just the water was fine. He said "I know, but I will just give you the cake." He didn't even ask for the extra couple of dollars left over after purchasing the water. Wow, what friendly service!

We took the complimentary shuttle in the morning to the airport (less than 5 mins away) and were driven by a very nice young lady. We had to rush off to catch our flight so we didn't try out the free breakfast, but I did skim it over and it looked quite good.

“Very Nice Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

My sister and I stayed one night at this hotel on a shopping trip. It is very conveniently located for shopping being very close to the Quary , North Star and Loop 410 that will get you anywhere in SA.. the room was large and for a long stay I can see how especially two women would like the set up. There are two places for your make-up etc that have large mirrors although one has no running water and you have to share it with the coffee pot.. It works. the bathroom is very small but the living area is very large so it's what you want in a room that counts here. The breakfast that is free is not great so I would suggest going elsewhere for meals although they do have a limited menu that is prepared at the hotel . The staff could not have been nicer..they are for sure 5 star!
