Spouse and I stayed here two nights late January 2012. We chose this hotel because the price was quite reasonable and previous reviews stated it was near the yellow trolley line which made it accessible to almost all of downtown San Antonio at $1.10 per ride. Indeed the price was good and the trolley was very convenient – we used it a lot. The hotel staff was very congenial and accommodating and the hotel was very clean. We did find the room we stayed in smallish –there was but 1 chair and a small desk along with bed, TV stand, etc. It was not uncomfortably small – but we were rarely in the room except to sleep. We did however stay in 2 other such chain hotels on this trip and their rooms were much larger. Also the bathroom towels were very thin (either very used or cheap ones) – I had to use two to dry myself. Breakfast was mostly “breads & cereal”, some yogurt was available as were cups of what looked like canned fruit – we did not try it. The only hot stuff was oatmeal – and it was good – I ate it twice, and prepackaged commercial egg/meat biscuits that could be micro-waved (we did not try that). So overall I guess you get what you pay for. As I mentioned it was reasonably priced, clean, next to public transportation and with a nice staff. There are two other Marriott chain hotels (a Courtyard & a Residence Inn) adjacent to this Fairfield Inn. I would probably stay here again – but would check the other nearby hotels.
