If you're planning on visiting Salem I would HIGHLY recommend the Coach House Inn. Not only is it clean, quiet, and charming, but Patricia (the owner) is one of the most genuine persons I have ever met. She made sure we had all of the information we needed to get around the city and offered her advice on where to eat and visit.
Upon entering the Coach House, Pat greeted us as though we were one of her closest friends. She took the time to answer all of our questions and her warm and cheerful personality made us feel very comfortable right off the bat.
Both the main lobby & the room we stayed in were meticulously clean. The decor really made us feel as though we stepped back in time. In the mornings, we would open our door to find a basket of assorted fruits, juice, warm muffins, crossants, and pastries. There is also a coffee maker right in the room.
The downtown area with all the attractions is about a mile (10-15 minute walk) down Lafayette. We didn't care though because the weather was absolutely gorgeous the entire weekend we were there. There is a place to rent bikes down the road though and Pat recommended a taxi service in case we needed it.
Overall our experience at the Coach House was an extremely positive one. Our only disappointment was not seeing any ghosts! We would most definitely stay here again :)
