“Loved it!”

My boyfriend and I visited the Salem Inn last May for a 5 day vacation. We stayed in the honeymoon suit (even though we were not honeymooners). The Inn was wonderful and the room was perfect with a kitchen, large bathroom with jacuzzi tub, and private entrance and exit with a porch. The bed was huge and very comfortable. It was in a perfect location hidden amidst the gorgeous apple blossom trees and was all in all very quiet. I only went for the breakfast once as having our own nicely sized kitchen with all the needed appliances kept us from having to wake up early to catch breakfast. The day we arrived we simply ran to the closest walgreens and stocked the cabinets and mini fridge with a few items for breakfast meals. The house keeping is very quiet and discreet. We had our "Privacy" sign on the door the first 2 days and were never disturbed. We kept it up at night but took it down right before we would leave for the day, and return back to find everything clean with fresh towels stocked in the bathroom and dishes done. It was perfect.

The only negative was that because of the old fashioned air conditioning units, if it happens to rain, the sound of the rain hitting them can be pretty noisy.

I would definitely stay here again (and plan to) on our next trip to Salem.

“Sisters Birthday Weekend”

What a cozy place, clean, bright, excellent breakfast at the Inn, linens smelled fresh, not hard or starchy. Within easy walking distance to the YMCA, CVS, Dunkin Donuts and all other tourist attractions, just minutes to the waterfront. We had a kitchenette in each room, one room had 2 baths. We had 4 of us in one room and 6 in the other and we all had plenty of room, parking was in a private lot in the back of the house. Try to get to the Red LuLu Cucina and Bar, it had fabulous food, excellent prices and service. Others have complained here about the stairs (its is ONE flight, people are so lazy!) The only negative would be that the traffic was pretty loud Friday night but Saturday wasn't as loud. Other than that this place was really great, we had a good time!

Room Tip: They also have a really cozy King room with a fireplace on the bottom floor. Keep in mind it is a B...

“Enjoyed our stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

When my husband and I first went in I was like mmmm not sure if I am going to like this. Well I was wrong it was awesome we had a good time everyone was real friendly. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite...Was very nice. And I have to say very CLEAN!
I did have a ghostly experience there. Monday morning around 4am I heard what sounded like a child running around the floor above us. I was like this kid needs to be in bed. So, the next morning I mentioned this to the front desk and they informed me that the only floor above me was an attic...I was like really! Spooked me a little bit, but whatever still had fun and enjoyed Salem. We are going back next year. Oh and also enjoyed the breakfast.

Room Tip: They say room 17 is very haunted.

“Salem Inn enjoyable except for...”

Booked a room at the Salem Inn recently--we were attending a wedding in Salem and needed overnight accommodations. We had been warned that parking was a real issue in Salem. When we reserved a room at Curwen House, we were told by Salem Inn staff that we would be guaranteed a parking space during our stay as Curwen House had its own parking lot. When we checked in, we were told there was only one parking space left with another guest coming. We took that last space, but in fear of losing it, we were forced to take a taxi to & from the wedding which added another cost to our trip. We were definitely misled on the parking situation. Otherwise, the Inn is a fine place to stay.

“New England Adventure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Stopped in Salem for two nights on a New Englad adventure. Our choice for accommodations was the Salem Inn because we love history, and historic buildings. The Salem Inn was exactly what we wanted - its location was perfect. It was a short walk to the picturesque harbor, where we were able to go for a sail on the Fame, a replica of an 1812 schooner. Very exciting trip.
We stayed at the Curwen House - one of the Inn's three houses in the historic district. The building is very quiet and tastefully preserved. Our room,a honeymoon suite, (#13 and it wasn't haunted) was big, clean and comfortable, with an original chandelier, an fancy wood ceiling (beautiful), a lovely fireplace mantle and a hand-painted wall mural.
There was a convenient parking lot behind the Curwen House, but we did have the inconvenience of having to walk a block to breakfast, which was very good. The inn is a nice place to stay for someone looking for something a little bit different.

Dear Jenny D,
We are so glad you enjoyed your New England adventure, and your two night stay at the historic Curwen House of the Salem Inn. The room you stayed in (#13) is one of our favorite honeymoon suites, with it's original, exquisite detail.
Perhaps you will come again after Halloween, and be able to enjoy the warmth of the original fireplace - it is a treat.
Thank you for sharing,
Yours truly,
Diane Pabich
