“Salem Inn enjoyable except for...”

Booked a room at the Salem Inn recently--we were attending a wedding in Salem and needed overnight accommodations. We had been warned that parking was a real issue in Salem. When we reserved a room at Curwen House, we were told by Salem Inn staff that we would be guaranteed a parking space during our stay as Curwen House had its own parking lot. When we checked in, we were told there was only one parking space left with another guest coming. We took that last space, but in fear of losing it, we were forced to take a taxi to & from the wedding which added another cost to our trip. We were definitely misled on the parking situation. Otherwise, the Inn is a fine place to stay.

“New England Adventure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Stopped in Salem for two nights on a New Englad adventure. Our choice for accommodations was the Salem Inn because we love history, and historic buildings. The Salem Inn was exactly what we wanted - its location was perfect. It was a short walk to the picturesque harbor, where we were able to go for a sail on the Fame, a replica of an 1812 schooner. Very exciting trip.
We stayed at the Curwen House - one of the Inn's three houses in the historic district. The building is very quiet and tastefully preserved. Our room,a honeymoon suite, (#13 and it wasn't haunted) was big, clean and comfortable, with an original chandelier, an fancy wood ceiling (beautiful), a lovely fireplace mantle and a hand-painted wall mural.
There was a convenient parking lot behind the Curwen House, but we did have the inconvenience of having to walk a block to breakfast, which was very good. The inn is a nice place to stay for someone looking for something a little bit different.

Dear Jenny D,
We are so glad you enjoyed your New England adventure, and your two night stay at the historic Curwen House of the Salem Inn. The room you stayed in (#13) is one of our favorite honeymoon suites, with it's original, exquisite detail.
Perhaps you will come again after Halloween, and be able to enjoy the warmth of the original fireplace - it is a treat.
Thank you for sharing,
Yours truly,
Diane Pabich

“October in Salem is great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

October is our favorite month to come and visit Salem and the Salem Inn. We've been doing this for years and the weather is always delightful - cool, comfortable and dry, and the Salem Inn has always been such a welcoming place to stay. This year we had a large room on the third floor of the West House that had a huge jacuzzi in one room and a bath/shower in a separate room. We found something new this year - the Inn now has large new flat-screen TVs. Great!
We chose midweek for our visit, when it is less crowded, but there's still so much fun stuff to do. As usual, the hospitality at the Inn was great, and the front desk people took good care of us. The breakfast server we've know for years was great, as was the breakfast.
We're even thinking of coming back next year in May when all the city's flowering fruit trees are at their peak. They say it's absolutely beautiful!

“Well maintained piece of salem's history!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011 via mobile

Located within walking distance from most seasonal (Halloween) attractions-rooms nicely furnished. We were on 2nd floor-only down side-not easy carrying your own luggage up staircase-would be worse if had children in tow and were on one of the upper floors-that being said, highly recommend the hotel-the transport company we used from train station was excellent - KT's transportation, enjoyed the ride-driver very pleasant!
