Over the last five years, we've stayed here every time we are in town visiting family. It's reasonably priced and although not in the center of town, it is close enough to go back and forth to the local attractions. Since we get the suite, it works great with two kids - can put them to bed in one room on the pull out sofa (and an air mattress we brought) and still watch tv for a few more minutes before lights out! Wonderful having a fridge, shower is clean, two separate sinks, comfortable bed and not overly fluffy pillows... no complaints! Some people might be put off by the cat that greets you at the register, but I think it is a nice touch. Never needed service, so can't comment on that. Would recommend it to any of my friends who are looking for a quiet, clean place to stay that is reasonably priced for the area.

The Clipper Ship Inn is a real nice place to stay which is real close to all of Salem's attractions. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We were married in Salem and stayed at the hotel. My wife and I loved it so much that we left Maine to come back there the following weekend. I definitely recommend the Clipper Ship Inn to all visitors coming to Salem.

The woman who owned/managed the hotel was rude. We had already paid a nonrefundable deposit on the room and got there 15 minutes before checkin. They decided to put us in an upstairs room at the very far corner because the manager said she could get more money for the room we were originally given. We had to come back in an hour to get our room, which was old, outdated, musty. We traveled for 12 days all around the New England area, and this was, by far, the worst room we rented in any city during our 12 days - and we were charged more for this room than any of the others. I will NEVER stay at this location again!
