“Nice & quiet place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

The hotel was nice and clean. However, for the price, I would liked to have had a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The area was quiet yet located near many attractions & restaurants.

“Well worth a repeat visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

Located near the waterfront, a public park on the ocean, restaurants, and many attractions in historic Salem, Massachusetts, while it may lack some of the amenities provided by the larger hotels, the Clipper Ship Inn has a lot to offer. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, and are a very good value. The landscaping is attractive, the staff is friendly and helpful. Our stay happened during the second week of July. With so many attractions to visit in the North Shore area just 20 miles north of Boston, and with such a wonderful place to stay, my wife and I will definately be visiting the Clipper Ship Inn again sometime soon!

“A REAL witch in Salem”

It's fine if your just in the hotel to sleep and sleep only, the prices are cheaper then other hotels in the area, cleaning girl was nice but dont expect to have your rooms cleaned every day, and yes it is walking distance if you are willing to walk long distances that is, attractions are about 20 minutes away if you are walking but that still wasn't my main concern.

My main concern was the extremely rude manager I believe her name is Suzanne she is very unprofessional, doesn't know how to talk to customers, gives you nasty looks if you request anything, and doesn't even acknowledge you if you greet her.

So if you wanna meet a real witch in salem then the clipper ship inn is for you. But if you wanna stay a little bit closer to downtown, have more comfort, and be treated a little bit better then garbage then stay elsewhere.

“You get what you pay for...or less”

This Inn needs remodeling both inside and out. The air conditioning was inadequate to cool the room. We let it run for the entire day while we were out and the room was still not cool when we returned. The interior, although large, was decorated with mis-matched drapes and bedding. We asked the front desk for pillows twice but never got them. The tv was so small it was hard to see from the bed and no cable! The "carpeting" in the room was actually outdoor carpeting. The cleaning staff was nice but looked like they were on drugs. It states on the bruchure that it is in walking distance to attractions but in reality the attractions are two miles away. The neighborhood was not terrible but I would not suggest going out after dark.
