“Excellent experience”

My husband and I stayed here for one night on a quick overnight trip to Salem. We took the PEM package -- a room plus a pass for each of us to the Peabody Essex Museum. The staff both at the desk and in the restaurant were all friendly and courteous, making us feel very welcome. The only minor criticism I have is that the furniture (standard hotel dresser, TV, desk, and two upholstered chairs) was somewhat large and bulky for the size of the room, making it seem a bit crowded. But it was super clean, the beds were very comfortable, and (unlike my experience at several other hotels), the heating system was easy to control and we were able to keep it at a temperature that was fine for both of us. The Regatta (the hotel restaurant) was having a special "Italian Night" that evening, and for about $12 each, we had a truly delicious meal. The next morning we took a swim in the very nice heated pool before checking out. The hotel is conveniently located, walking distance to the museum and other attractions, and there are other restaurants nearby. I definitely would return to this hotel and would recommend it to anyone else who is traveling to Salem.

“Beautiful rooms, Excellent service, deceiving Name”

We visited Salem for the 1st time the end of December. Booked hotel online (the hotel website). We expected to be, well, on the waterfront and were very disappointed to find out that the Waterfront Hotel, isn't . At first I was a bit upset, thinking it was false advertisement, but that is not the case. The Waterfront is the name of the area where it is located in Salem. We got over it very quickly; The staff is very friendly and accommodating, most places are a short walk away, and the rooms are very nice and clean. The bartender at the restaurant, Cindy, was particularly nice. Highly recommend it.
When you visit, wherever you ed up staying, go to RED'S for breakfast. It is the best food, good service and right price. LOVED IT!

“Loved this place for years, but something happened”

This past year my wife and I stayed here like we have for many years but something was vastly different this time. The staff was very rude and our room was very noisy. When we said something in the morning about our room being noisy we were pretty much just blown off. My guess is that they get so many guests around October that they don't care if people are unhappy. My wife left her hairbrush in the room and they mailed it to her next day air and charged her around $50 for it, for a $10 hairbrush! Next time we'll stay at the Hawthorne or one of the many bed and breakfasts in Salem. It's a shame because we visit Salem every October and used to LOVE this place.

My husband and I enjoyed the hotel and found the staff very accommodating. We arrived early and were able to check in right away. Enjoyed the complimentary cookies and hot chocolate in the afternoon. Would definitely recommend.

“Good room in a good location”

I stayed at Salem Waterfront Hotel in mid-January. The room was standard - two queens, tv, wifi, etc. - and I found it quite comfortable. The only down-side was a seemingly headless shower head that sprayed you like a firing hose.

I also enjoyed the location. It's not in the heart of downtown, but it's close enough to the historic spots and very close to restaurants, bars and other destinations.

I was surprised that a room in mid-January cost $120+, but that seemed to be par for the course for hotels in Salem.
