“Amazing Place to stay in an Amazing City!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2010

My best friend Marc and I came up to Salem for the first time this year .We came for the Haunted Happenings Halloween celebration. We stayed at the Amelia Payson B&B from Thursday 10/28 to Monday 11/01. Fist, the house is absolutely gorgeous! Ada and Donald are the most welcoming hosts. We felt like we were at home with family. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, Ada is one heck of a baker..lol The room was spacious and inviting, full of character and charm. The location couldn't be more perfect...just steps away from Salem Common, and a few more steps to Everything! We parked the car when we got there and didn't look at it again until we grudgingly had to leave and return home to NYC. We would like to publicly thank Ada and Donald for making our stay in Salem not only enjoyable, but easy! We miss you already!! XOXO Jim Castoro & Marc Shultheis

Thanks Jim & Marc for your kind words after your visit in October. Don and I are so glad you had a great stay. Certainly, Salem during Halloween is a hectic time and we only hope that everyone truly sees the real charm of our wonderful city as you did. We are happy to hear it was a comfortable and easy experience as it can get a little crazy that last week, so we strive to provide some civilized rest time in your home away from home. Thanks again for your contribution to Trip Advisor and we look forward to seeing you both again sometime soon.

“"A really great spot"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

Everything going for it and I mean everything. Greatest hosts you'll ever meet. Superb breakfast and I don't eat very much. Donald has ties to Nova Scotia so that stands him in preety good company, Ada doesn't need any of that because she's the real deal! Just a great place. Hope that Donald replies to my orb pic! Thanx Wayne, Irene, Caralee and Garrett.

Many thanks to you all for such an enthusiastic review of your experience at out B&B. It is always nice to know, even after 26 years, that people have truly enjoyed their visit to Salem and that we had a part in making it more enjoyable, and especially for our sister countryman & women to the North.

“An absolute treat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

Ada and Donald Roberts were delightful hosts. The room was charming with small touches of hospitality, and extremely clean. The conversations with them and the other guests at the breakfast table made our trip to Salem more enjoyable. If you go to Salem, this is the place to stay.

“Looking to stay in Salem, MA? You have to stay here!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

I was up in Salem visiting friends in the area and decided at the last minute to stay overnight. The minute I stepped foot into this bed & breakfast, I felt that I had picked a good one. I was brought up to my room and was very satisfied to how the room was decorated. As for the cleanliness of my room, I honestly have never been in a cleaner inn or bed & breakfast. These owners take great pride in their home and it shows!! It is only a few minute walk to all the attractions and shopping in Salem. You'd be a fool not to stay here!

“Great place to stay in Salem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

I would highly recommend the Amelia Payson House to anyone visiting Salem. Ada and Donald were amazing hosts, and our room was excellent. The house was beautiful and every inch was spotless. Our room was very comfortable, especially with the all important air conditioner during the really humid weather, and it was large enough to move around. We were amazed at how quiet it was. The bedroom had an outer door and an inner door which helped keep out any noise from the hallway. Breakfast each day was delicious. The location is very good as well. We parked the car when we arrived, and it didn't move once during our entire stay. The historic part of Salem is quite small, so everything was within walking distance. I can honestly say that I have no bad things to say about our stay.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your review. Now that the hectic fall season is behind us, I certainly wish to thank you for all your kind words about your visit to Salem and all the complements in regards to our bed & breakfast. While the day to day operations might be routine, the opportunity to meet new friends everyday is the real benefit and truly makes for everlasting memories. I’m glad we could make your visit to Salem better than expected and convenient as well. There are not many cities and towns that can offer the old town atmosphere and charm of Salem and we can’t think of a better place to enjoy our life’s work……..Again, Thank you for contributing to Trip Advisor on our behalf………..
