“Important info about this hotel”

I've stayed here twice - in 2010 for five nights and then in 2011 for four nights. It's a fairly nice place, but it has some major issues. The hotel appears to be wood frame construction, including the floors. In 2010 I was on the third floor and the stay was fairly comfortable. I did notice the incredibly thin walls, but it was tolerable. In 2011, I was put on a room on the second floor. I am convinced there was a large man river dancing in the room above me. Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom was the norm. My co-pilot had a lower floor room and noted the same thing. We ended up checking out early and switching hotels since there were no third floor rooms available. My advice if you stay here: insist on a third floor room.

“Would stay again....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2011

I am in Tucson quite often and usually I stay on the north side but I needed to be in Vail, AZ so I stayed south. If you look at my reviews you will see I am frequent Residence Inn patron. This was a newish RI and it was clean and the rooms were nice and well appointed. Lobby was very nice, staff helpful and there are cookies at the front desk which is a nice touch. There is not a whole lot around so for nightlife you will need to head into down town Tucson which is a short drive. Beds are comfy, breakfast was ample and I will stay again if I need to be in Southern Tucson.

“great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2010

Great hotel, very close to the airport but little else so a rental car is a MUST if you want to see anything. There is a free shuttle. No restaurants nearby and nowhere to walk. But breakfast provided is very good (aside from all the disposable dishes) and "manager's dinner specials" offered on a few nights were welcome. New, clean hotel, spacious rooms, friendly, helpful staff, free parking, reliable free internet.

“A Good Stay, & @ home with crickets”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2010

This place is easy to find but a problem trying to find the front of the hotel. As you enter the location the side of the bldg is actually facing the street. You must turn west then south. The front desk is on the west side of the building.
After getting this matter straight, we had a very good stay. Only one problem, there were crickets inside the room. I only noticed one but heard another at night. This did not create a bad situation. since the hotel is relatively new, i can imagine that it will take some time before the critters understand that this proprty is taken.
Perhaps an exterminator is needed until then.

Other than that the breakfast was full and very good.
They have a business center with three computers with printers hooked up to each one.
The hotel is only two floors. There is an elevator. Parking is all around the hotel depending on where your room is located.

“Maybe my standards and/or expectations are too high.......”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2010

Three rooms were booked by our group and ours was by far the worst.........we had a great rate for a one bedroom unit but there were only "accessible" rooms left when we arrived......this meant, amongst other things, no shower stall/curtain which of course means everything in bathroom gets wet when one showers. Attempts to get moved were fruitless except to downgrade which would have been acceptable IF a lower rate was offered. It wasn't so we stayed put. Staff was disinterested and disengaged the entire time we were there.

The furniture in the room and the bedding was tired and not very nice to begin with. The air conditioning unit roared like a 747 whenever the compressor engaged and that made for difficult sleep. Opening the window was an option but the A/C for the office area was right outside our room and it was even louder.

The hotel is getting shabby and is not very clean - there was a distinct layer of dust on chair legs and other furniture surfaces both in rooms and public areas. The breakfast area is okay but the food is served on plastic with matching cutlery - for nearly $200/night, this is unacceptable. Sure it'd cost money to hire an attendant to do the dishes but they could always do a bit of dusting when they were thru!

The hotel is a million miles from anything remotely nice.........Tucson is very spread out anyway which we knew going in but we weren't really expecting every outing to necessitate a 30 minute drive. But, the rate we got was a 1/3 to 3/4 less than anything else in town for a one bedroom unit vs a motel room (we later learned there was both a rodeo and a big golf tournament in town which made for room scarcities and higher prices).

Conclusion? Business travellers with appointments nearby and those with early AM flights might, just might, like this facility but anyone else should look elsewhere. I would extend this comment to include everything near the airport. It's just too remote.
