“Beautiful Tucson sunsets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Stayed two nights on the 7th floor. Our room had its own digital tempurature thermostat (70 degrees was perfect setting) and an amazing view. Free water on our nightstand. I requested a toothbrush with toothpaste which was already in our room. Loved the executive floor. Free wine, beer, and hors deurves at night, free breakfast in the morning. Extremely kind staff and desk folks. Very quiet. The hotel accomodated us as we had an emergency meeting with family on a Saturday morning. We ate at the hotel restaurant at night. The T-Bone steak was great and the next night we had the prime rib which was even better. Steamed veggies very fresh. The prawns appetizer was perfect. The dipping sauce was delicious. Full bar. Even though Tucson has good restaurants around town, we were too tired and glad we stuck close to the hotel at night. This was my second visit to Tucson at this hotel and will return again. Can't believe this hotel is not #1 on tripadvisor

Thank you for your review and thank you for your whole hearted recommendation of our hotel. We appreciate you ranking us #1. Hilton has it's own proprietary guest evaluation program which is designed to include a large cross section of guests and protect the integrity of guest comments. We get 30 to 50 reviews through the proprietary site each month and we're very proud to rank in the top 10%

We appreciate you taking the time to write down all the details you noticed about the hotel, your room and the staff. We're glad you liked the thermostats and the view. We get many compliments from guests about the beautiful mountain views from our hotel.

We're glad you took advantage of Hilton's pre arrival amenity program for your toothbrush and toothpaste. There are many items that can be ordered in advance to be in your room upon arrival--including meals and beverages.

It's good to hear you liked the Executive Level breakfast and Evening Manager's Reception. We get many compliments from guests about our Executive Level--our private key-access lounge is the perfect place to relax in the evening with a glass of wine or your favorite drink and watch the big screen TV or use the WiFi to check email. And thank you for choosing our restaurant for your dinner. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel for your next stay.

“Nice hotel...except...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I agree with the other posts of this hotel. Front desk staff was friendly, rooms were clean, beds very comfy, rooms - noise free. Very pretty facility.

The problem I had was with the restaurant. We were at this hotel as part of a soccer tournament. I have to admit, the hotel was overrun with young soccer players. The restaurant staff was obviously feeling this stress.

We were running abit late in getting to our game, so I sent my two daughters ages 13 and 11 down ahead of us to get started on breakfast - whch was supposed to be free with our hotel package. They were turned away because they were not accompanied by an adult. They told me the hostess was very irritated and rude to them. When we joined them 10 minutes later and were seated, our waitress started in right away on the fact that we may or may not have free breakfast and she would have to check our room package. I don't even think she greeted us. We told her we weren't concerned with cost, that we just needed to get some breakfast into our soccer player. We complained to her about how the hostess had treated our girls and she reported it to the manager. After sitting there awhile, we decided we didn't need to eat there and left. Upon leaving, we overheard the hostess complaining to the manager that my teenager was too young to be in the restaurant alone....and "where was her mother?" I was really insulted. We were ten minutes behind our kids. I had believed this to be a safe environment and knew many of our team's soccer parents were already in the restaurant and lobby area. We decided to pay for breakfast that day and the next elsewhere.

I frequently stay at Hilton and Hampton Hotels with our soccer team, This is the first time I have ever had a problem with the way we were treated.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your kind words about our our rooms, friendly front desk staff and how pretty the hotel is. We host groups from the youth soccer tournament over a January weekend each year and we are proud that the majority of these groups return to our hotel each year. You are correct, this youth soccer tournament does include restaurant breakfast coupons for their groups.

I apologize for your experience in our restaurant. Each guest (regardless of age) who presents a breakfast coupon to the hostess should be seated and served breakfast immediately. And there is never an excuse for anything other than a friendly and welcoming greeting. Your valuable input has resulted in focused training for the food and beverage team on service to youth groups.

“Lovely Lobby with Spectacular Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We headed down from Phoenix for a two night stay in Tucson, and definately made the right choice in hotels. Room was comfy, great breakfast buffet for Hilton Honors members, but the best part was the lobby! Glass elevators took you up and down the atrium space with a spectacular view of the nearby mountains. For a city hotel this was great, would stay there again, sorry we did not have more time in Tucson.

Room Tip: Upper floors give you more of a bird's eye view of this surprisingly lovely location.

“Great Hotel and Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We were greeted enthusiastically by front desk staff. From then on, we knew we had found a gem. Rooms were clean, beds were divine - white cotton bedding, lovely light down comforters, thick terry robes and slippers, puffy down pillows, pillowtop mattresses like sleeping on a cloud. We enjoyed the friendly helpful staff, the views on the glass elevator looking out onto the mountains, the pool and sun deck were exquisite. Convenient to Culvers - walk across the parking lot, a very good IHop - breakfast - good mall across the street. In a neighborhood area where we walked every day and enjoyed a peaceful retreat. Highly recommend this place!

“At the right price, this can be a great deal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

I had considered the Tucson Hilton East for a prior trip, but rejected it because of the relatively high price. But last minute searching for an 8-day trip in December turned up a real bargain on the Hilton website but nowhere else: a standard room nearly half the normal rate, with the option to upgrade to the Executive 7th floor for just a few dollars more. This was a great deal: fruit/waffles/hot dish for free on the executive floor, or half-off the larger buffet downstairs, plus 2 free drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the evening [Friday's ribs were all the dinner I needed]. Also robes, slippers, and turn-down service. And the benefit of a seventh floor view of the mountains and surrounding area.

The staff are wonderful, the pool and spa were at just the right temperature for December, and the location is great if you want the East Side: close to Park Place Mall and a variety of restaurants, both chain and local. And the beds are divine.

On the downside: the rooms are fairly standard hotel rooms with little or no "sizzle." The bathrooms are up-to-date but cramped [although the towels were truly thick]. The 1980's glass atrium remains a spectacular space, although the awful red carpet with the dowdy pattern clashes terribly.

On the whole, I prefer the rooms and grounds at the Westward Look, but then they are a bit remote and can be pricey unless you grab a sale. And the pool at the Westward Look is a bit too cool in the winter [that's a priority]. So if you get the right deal, the Hilton Tucson East can strike an excellent balance between price and amenities

Room Tip: The north-facing rooms give the best view of the Catalina mountains, the closest range. A couple of...

Thank you for your review. We are pleased you took advantage of our value pricing for longer stays. Year round, we offer advantageous rates for guests with longer stays--and our best rates are always available on our own website.

We're happy you took advantage of an upgrade to the Executive Level. We get many compliments from guests about the high quality of our deluxe continental breakfast and our evening managers' reception on the Executive Level. I'm glad you enjoyed them also.

We appreciate your kind words about our location, ease of access, friendly staff and quality facilities. The Hilton Tucson East is the market leader in Tucson for corporate/transient travel, and our rooms, decor, amenities and services have special appeal for those travelers. We are also a popular group hotel and a favorite of reunions, meetings, conventions, fund raisers, brides and associations. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next stay.
