The Hotel Arizona was the headquarters hotel for a convention I recently attended in Tucson. We learned that the owner and the city were in some type of dispute, and there is a likelihood the hotel will close down soon unless a buyer comes along to purchase the property. Some reviews I read before the trip seemed to criticize the staff a lot. My experience was that the staff was reasonably friendly and the front desk staff was very helpful on several occasions. I think the staff has the misfortune of trying to continue a hotel on which the owner seems to have written off. The hotel desperately needs renovation. It not only is dated, but also has various problems, such as a pipe leaking through the ceiling of a room to which some friends initially were assigned. I think the hotel staff tried their best to make our group comfortable, but it is like trying to sit straight on a three-legged stool with only two legs. If the hotel owner would invest money in renovations, it's my opinion the hotel could be a fairly nice facility. The bathrooms are fairly small, which might be a challenge for any renovation. The rooms themselves were a decent size. And, unlike others who posted, I did not have serious problems being connected to the internet, which was free.
