“Watch out if you're not a smoker”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Check in time was 2 pm. We arrived at 3 and our room was not ready yet so we sat in the lobby. At 3:30 we went back up to the desk and the room was ready. Upon entering our room we gagged. This was a smoking room. There is no way that the room could have smelled that bad unless the carpets have never been deep cleaned. The desk chair was missing a wheel. We went back down to the front desk and asked if we could change rooms. The clerk got nasty and told us that the room that you are assigned is the room that you get and that the hotel was full. I guess everyone in the lobby heard her. There was no reason to treat us like that.

Back in the room we opened the window and turned on the blower. Then we sat in the lobby for awhile. That was a real eye opener. Another person came in and also complained about the smoky room. Then someone came in for three rooms but a mistake had been made and the rooms were shown as for tomorrow. Well, they managed to find two rooms for them. Then a gentleman came in at 5 pm and his room wasn't ready yet.

My husband was looking forward to using the hot tub. Unfortunately, there was a sign on it saying that it was out of order. There was a nice, large deck in the courtyard but it had more paint peeling off of it than was on it. There were tables and chairs but no lounge chairs. A fountain was not working. The business office had two computers but one had a sign on it that it was out of order.

We returned after going out for dinner. The open window in our room and the blower going at full had done nothing for the smoky smell. It was terrible.

The hotel was close to the airport but we won't be staying here again.

Room Tip: If you are a non smoker be sure to request a non-smoking room

“Take your tool kit”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This Hotel has lots of potential but is understaffed and not maintained. Upon entering our
assigned room it was hard to get the lights on since the switches are in the closet. The TV cabinet door would not close and presented an obsticle course.. Carpet needed shampooing and the phone did not work. TV was old analog unit, foozie at best. Asked for another room and the card keys would not work, after more card keys, we discovered this room reaked of smoke so we went back to the first room. During our trips to the front desk we encounted a guy who was on his 4th try with the card keys not working and he was at his witts end. Tried to get water out of pop machine and it was out of stock but kept our money. Desk offered no remedy. On the plus side, the beds were double sheeted and linens were decent.

Room Tip: Take your tool and cleaning kit.

“Nice hotel, but where are all the people?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I stayed here with my family for the Gem and Mineral Show. The hotel is huge, but there were hardly any guests for what should be a busy weekend. We kept taking laps around the hallways trying to figure out how many rooms were occupied, and we think it was probably less than 20. Normally in a large hotel you'll see people hanging out in the lobby, but it was empty.

But despite the eerie quiet, the rooms were nice and large. My parents were traveling with a ton of stuff and it all fit. The location is literally right down the street from the airport. In fact, I accidentally grabbed the wrong bag at the airport, realized it once I'd settled in at the hotel, and we were able to zoom right back and the owner of the bag hadn't even left baggage claim yet.

The one complaint I have is the continental breakfast. They ran out of something every morning. Once it was hot water, so no one could make oatmeal or tea. Then it was coffee. Then it was silverware. For having so few guests, you'd think they would be able to keep the dining room stocked.

Overall, a really nice hotel, good value, and if you're looking for peace and quiet, this is it.

“Good value for a one night stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I spent a night at Clarion Airport Hotel, after landing at Tucson airport in the late evening.
Location is very close to the airport, you can even walk there, or take a 5$ cab ride.
I've found the hotel quite different than pictures in their websites, but all in all clean and confortable. Breakfast is included (toast, eggs, sauasages, fruits, cereal, etc).
Staff not incredibly friendly, but not rude as well.
Considering the rate, a very good choice, I would recommend it!
