“I was completely surprised by the hotel...”

I was completely surprised by the hotel, it was not even close to what it seemed to be online or in the mixed reviews.
1) the area it is in is very run down, safety is a question at night..
2) the hotel is "under construction", I think an excuse for the open ceiling panels, hanging wires, caution taped stairways to upstairs.... no ice machine, etc etc the list goes on.
3) the 'breakfast' looked as if it had been sitting out for a few weeks as a layer of dust/dirt covered everything.
4) a security guard roams the parking lot, a good sign your car will be safe, but what if he wasn't there?
5) we slept in our clothes for fear of what was on/under the covers...
6) our room did not have a room number
Overall the place is very rundown, note it is two separate buildings, one in front, one out back. It honestly could be used for a scary movie... empty dark, the taped off stairs that lead to the dark upstairs hallway just topped it off for us.
You'd be better off staying at the flamingo, econolodge nearby. Motel six would be 50 times better.

“Not great, not horrible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

We stayed at this hotel for the 2010 Gem & Mineral show. It was our first time, and we set a high priority on staying at a hotel that was hosting a show. Our expectations on quality were not particularly high.

The rooms (in the back addition) were ok, with the exception of the table and 2 chairs, all of which were broken and unusable. The safe was also not usable, which mattered as were were on a buying trip at an intensely high-profile event. However, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the tv worked. Some ambient noise from the streets outside, but not a big deal.

The hotel was not surprisingly busy, and our few requests (no internet access, broken light, broken safe) went mostly unanswered. I asked about the safe on each of the first 3 days of our stay. The front desk was pleasant, but no action at all. They seemed to be seriously short-staffed.

The other problem was no access to nearby food. The front desk told us there would be dinner served in the hotel dining room, but beyond continental breakfast no meals were available. We found only one restaurant within walking distance (a very nice, fancy mexican restaurant).

“Cheap - and needs improvement! Not the usual Executive Inn.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2010

The "off season" rates were very inexpensive. However, the conditions made it less of a deal. The A/C in the room worked fine, but the A/C in the "common areas", lobby, halls, breakfast room, etc. wasn't working. There was a pungent smell in the lobby. The layout of the hotel is nice, but that was the only upside. Two of my towels were stained. I was there to recouperate from a surgery. The Dr. office suggested the hotel. They took me back to the hotel, and saw things for themselves. The Dr. office is now looking at other options.

“Excellent Stay I will return”

It was a good stay. Me and my family enjoyed every minute in the warm pool. The rooms weren't anything special but for the price you cant complain at all. The service was great and the breakfast was perfect.

“We had a great time, So relaxing!”

Needed time to get away from home. This was a great choice. Hotel is still as nice as it was when we first visited in 1999. Front Desk staff was nice and very helpful. The room was quiet and very roomy. had a very cozy decor.
