“Spain in Tucson”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We've spent about four weeks in Spain, so we can say that the tapas selection at Casa Vicente is comparable in variety and quality to what you would be likely to encounter there. There is a range of selections, but we especially appreciated the wide selection of seafood tapas. We dined relatively early in the evening, but we were so pleased that we went back later for dessert, and enjoyed watching the locals dancing the tango.

“Entertaining flamenco dancing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011 via mobile

We were not sure if we were at the right location when we googled Spanish tapas restaurants . Once inside rest assured we are in a Tapas restaurant .
Next time we go I plan on making reservations . So that we can get a seat in the lower area , to watch the dancing . We were seated upstairs and was watching through column .
If you,re going for the paella the menu suggests you call it in , they make it traditionally , so it takes some time to prepare .
My fiancé is a connoisseur of tapas . So I left the ordering up to her , although I did get her to order the mussels . They were sautéd in a garlic butter sauce , very good .
The tenderloin in peppercorn sauce was cooked perfectly . My better half was not fond of the gazpacho .
She and I agreed that the red sangria was better than the white .
They have a large wine list for those wine connoisseurs .

“Good food but all one note: olive oil and garlic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

After hearing great things about Casa Vicente for years, we finally tried it and true to its reputation, the food was high-quality and flavorful. However, the predominant flavor in every dish is olive oil and garlic. Those are great flavors but they dominated some dishes that shouldn't be dominated by those flavors. One dish that should have worked well - prawns in olive oil and garlic, were delicious once they cooled down enough to be peeled. Having to peel and de-vein piping hot shrimp was nearly impossible and I was covered in shrimp and oil by the end of the meal. Service was friendly and helpful, if rushed.

“Tasty but loud”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

This trip to CV was my second. I had enjoyed a glass of wine and tapas with a friend in January of 2011. This time, my husband and I took my mother, siblings, and friends (party of 8) to dinner at CV. We ordered a delicious Paella Marinera (all seafood paella) for 6 but it was enough for all 8 with more to spare--and the servings were healthy! (Must order two hours ahead; 16-17 dollars per person; min of 4 people to order) Six of us enjoyed a glass of sangria (a carafe will give you 6 generous/8 modest, single servings for 17.00 dollars).

Our waiter was a bit curt, with a brusque, if not pushy, demeanor; however, his assistant was quite attentive and pleasant. Reads his customers and circumstances well. He is worth his weight in gold, managers. Unfortunately, I did not get their names.

Our only complaint is the cacaphonous atmosphere: MTV estilo Espana was playing quite loudly; add to that volume the people yelling across the table and you have an unnerving situation for those of us looking for a good meal and good conversation. The noise level is enough to prevent us from returning. Perhaps if we return when the guitarist is playing, the meal and atmosphere will blend more appropriately. I will try that alone with a friend before I return with a large group.

This place has the best Tapas and Paella anywhere! Great ambience, fun, music, service!
Easy to miss if you're not looking, but absolutely worth the drive into downtown Tucson!
Once you go (make a reservation!) you'll keep going back
