“Better than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We were concerned before our visit because of mixed reviews, but found our stay to be enjoyable. We asked for a renovated room and got a ground floor room that was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was well stocked despite a large convention crowd and the daily happy hours were well attended. Location is convenient to downtown and the convention center. The free airport shuttle was a nice plus.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has ben renovated.

“Great amenities, reasonable rates”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I was attending a convention, and stayed for 4 nights at the hotel. They offer many amenities, including free wi-fi, drinks at happy hour, breakfast, long distance calls... all in all a pretty good deal.

The hotel needs some refreshing, but it was a very good value.

“Only if you are desperate.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

This hotel has some pros even though I rated it as poor. I will list the pros and cons but do not make the mistake of assuming the pros outweigh the cons.
PROS---
-The hotel is quite large with many rooms and large convention capability.
-Our bed was decent.
-It is located close to downtown if you need this location.
-It has an attractive commons area.
CONS---
-This is the quintessential crusty carpet hotel. It was filthy.
-The hotel was in very bad physical shape with doors, elevators, etc. barely functional.
-The restaurant was in keeping with the rest of the establishment.

I would be leery of any future claims to being remodeled as I do not believe it is salvagable. It would probably be more economical for demolition and rebuilding from scratch than to attempt to bring it up to decent standards with the current structure. In addition to this the color scheme / interior decorating is terrible. Altogether, not a very pleasant place to stay.

Room Tip: Find another hotel.

“Winter warmth in the desert”

Upon arriving in Tucson, we phoned for the free shuttle. When it arrived, we were looking for the logo for InnSuites (which was on the letterhead we received, without the hotel Tucson name and logo) and thereby missed it. After 30 minutes, we phoned again, found out that it was hotel Tucson and got the shuttle on its next run.

At the hotel, we noticed that there were a number of improvements being made. The room was comfortable, although dated, but large enough to meet our needs for a week. The interior courtyard / pool was very quiet and resort-like.

We appreciated the restaurant / bar area for meeting with friends. And we were very impressed with all of the complementary amenities provided by the hotel - free breakfast, two free drinks per day during social hour, shuttle service to the airport and through the city, free long distance calling throughout North America.

Throughout the week we were there, workers were around the site making a variety of improvements to the facilities - painting throughout, room improvements, paving of additional parking areas.

We were very favourably impressed with this facility and would be pleased to return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the courtyard. There is a rail line near by and highway traffic. The building...

“Excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

The room was nice, but the service was fantastic. Very friendly and everyone from the front desk to the breakfast staff to the bar staff to the hallway janitor went out of their way for people, and did it with a smile.
Hot breakfast is included...with Starbuck's coffee!

Room Tip: This hotel is composed of several buildings; some are 2 stories high and don't have an elevator...
