“Fine, it's an apartment/condo complex so just know what you're getting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. This is a 3-star condo/apartment type property with more than half occupied by permanent residents (NOT A HOTEL!!) so just know what you’re booking and you’ll be fine. The brochures in the unit basically advertised it as a corporate extended stay residence.

Good: Lots of space, good sized bedrooms, adequately sized kitchen, dining and living areas. Beds were comfortable and had triple-sheeting duvets (no yucky bedspreads). Nice stainless steel GE profile appliances in the kitchen, granite counter tops (in kitchen), and an adequate top-load washer and dryer (detergent provided). Overall, (except for the carpet which was quite dirty) the condo was clean and in good repair. There were plenty of nice, thick towels. Furnishings were a little worn, but nothing terrible by any means. Staff was fantastic! Everyone from the front-desk area to maintenance were extremely helpful and friendly. We even needed to jump-start our rental car one day and they were quick and happy to help. Nice views of mountains and golf course. The price was definitely right, less than $200 per night for a 3 bedroom unit.

Not so great: Dirty carpeting. The pool could have been cleaner, it’s basically just a rectangle about 15 ft. by 35/40 feet. It was only 4 ft. deep at its deepest so that was nice for the kids. The dry wind blew a lot of debris and leaves into the pool and by mid-afternoon it was in serious need of a cleaning to remove leaves. Kitchen was a little lacking in cooking pots and pans, and utensils (no spatula, large spoons, grilling tongs etc.), but met the basic needs. Bathrooms were a little dated and showing their age, but were clean. No housekeeping services.

Location: Oro Valley is pretty far removed from the main tourist sights of Tucson and there really isn’t any easy freeway access to get anywhere. The drive to downtown area, National Parks, Sabino Canyon and Desert Museum were 30-40 minutes, the Mission and the airplane museum even farther.

Overall, if traveling with family or a group and wanted space over resort amenities we would definitely stay again. For the price, it was a real bargain!

“Nice place-would return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2010

Spent four nights the beginning of November before going to my timeshare in Scottsdale. Is located north of Tucson. Area is a bit removed from Tucson, restaurants and shopping not nearby. On the plus side, little traffic. Had a one bedroom villa. Nice view of mountains. Pool was nice, no one was hardly at pool eventhough temps were in the 80's.Nice golf course on grounds. Only negative was a hanging bathroom vent cover that I reported early on Friday and still was not fixed when I left on Monday. Staff was friendly. I would consider returning again.

“Superb villa and great holiday!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2010

We stayed at the golf villas for a family wedding and had 3 villas all next door to each other which worked out great. When we got to the villa we were surprised with how nice it was and also the location, although we didn't sit out on the patio the views were breath taking. The villa was really clean and spacious with washing Facilitys and a huge closet, the bathroom was also very nice. The pool was perfect and the hot tub was really good. We were the only people in the pool almost everytime we went. I think the location was ideal as the wedding was at the buttes on oracle road everything seemed to be within 15 min driving distance so we seen alot of Tuson. I would stay here again for sure and would love to return to Tuson!

“Should have been good, needed to be better”

We were looking forward to our stay at The Golf Villas - looking forward to a 1-bedroom villa, with laundry facilities, and being able to unwind for 3 days, before heading to California for the rest of our trip.

What we got was disappointing. Firstly, let me say, that the villa is nice and big - plenty of room. They put us in a 2-bedroom villa, so we had plenty of room. The washing machine and dryer came in handy, after a week of travelling. Be warned, they don't do housekeeping for stays under a week, and the front desk is only available till 6pm each day, so don't have any problems after 6!!

That said, how hard is it for hotels to do the basics well? Not a good thing to walk in to the room, and find the following: hair in the shower, soap scum around the bath, dirt on the carpet, and sadly, not a great view. The website makes out that you can see the mountains, all we saw was a golf course and more villas.

We complained to the front desk, and they moved us, but the room we got moved to was obviously being repaired, because there were things all over the place - rags, screws, etc - and it was even dirtier than the first place. We moved back to the first one!!

On our second night, we arrived back around 8pm only to find that our swiper cards didn't work. Both of them. Even worse, the office closes at 6pm each day, so we had to call their security, and wait 20 minutes for them to arrive. Fortunately we met some nice people who let us use the phone in their unit to call the front desk after hours number, otherwise we would have had some trouble calling without a phone!

After that experience we left a day early. Enough was enough.

“A Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

For the same price as a hotel, you can stay at a one, two or three bedroom condo with a private patio. We have family in Oracle and always stay here while visiting. This is the first time we had a concern. We had moved our luggage to the cars and remembered that we had not left a tip for housekeeping. It was 11:45 and all of our key cards had been deactivated. We went to the office and no one was there. Our apologies to housekeeping.
