“Perfect for the business traveller”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I was in town for meetings and the company put me up at this hotel. The location is excellent-practically next to the Dunkin Donuts Center and walking distance to Trinity Rep.

Rooms are spacious and bathrooms are clean and up-to-date w/granite counters, rain shower head and two kinds of soap. My room had a large desk and plenty of outlets for charging a laptop and phone. The hotel has a pool and a business center with two computer terminals and a laser printer. Rooms do not have a mini bar or fridge. There are ice machines on every other floor of the hotel.

Food options are limited. There is one restaurant off the lobby serving breakfast, lunch & dinner. A 24-hour shop is managed by the concierge and has bottled water, soft drinks, candy and snacks (no sandwiches or full meals). There is a Starbucks attached to the building, but you must either go outside or through the restaurant to access it. It closes by 6pm.

However, you are very close to all the excellent restaurants in Federal Hill. Ask the bellman for a recommendation and he may just hook you up with a discount! The hotel also offers a free shuttle for local trips.

The staff was very professional and friendly. No request was too big or too small. Staff can make or break a stay, and this team definitely made my quick trip a good one.

Room Tip: I don't recommend the 3rd floor unless you are a smoker. As soon as the elevator doors open you...

We are pleased to hear that our staff made your stay an enjoyable experience. We make all requests large or small a priority. Our Concierge staff is one of the best in the City as they are familiar with everything DT Providence has to offer.

We are glad that you were able to take advantage of all the hotel had to offer, and thank you for commenting on your experience. We look forward to hosting you again in the future.

“Excellent Choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Just spent the weekend in Providence with my boyfriend to see the Jeff Dunham show. And I am so glad we chose this hotel; they really make you want for nothing. The hotel was very nice and clean, and so was our room; bed was made everyday and got fresh new towels everyday and when you ask for something you don't wait a half hour like other hotels. Parking is only $21 a day and they have complementary shuttle service which was great b/c we didn't have to worry about parking or a designated driver. Shula's restaurant was awsome, best hotel food I've tasted and there's a Starbucks right downstairs. The staff is super nice and very helpful; I went to the front desk to find out what restaurants they reccomend and Nick showed me whole book full of restaurants to choose from. I thought it was great that he actually took time show me different restaurants in the area and which one's he reccomends. I definitely reccomend this hotel and I will stay here again, the next time I'm in Providence. I can't imagine staying anywhere else. The only reason I gave sleep quality 4 stars is b/c the pillows were mushy and I'm used to firm pillows, otherwise comfortable bed and good sleep. Thank you Hilton Providence for great stay!!

“$21 a night to park”

We stayed there Christmas night. The hotel and room were fine. We purchased this through priceline and thanks to trip advisor, we knew there was a parking fee. I was hoping to get a different hotel. The restaurant ...Shula's looked pretty nice, but we had had a large supper and just were ready to crash. Again the room was fine...just add $21 to any quote that you get.

As you stated, there is a $21 charge per night to use the adjacent parking garage. We are fortunate to have a parking gargage adjacent to the hotel that also has one of, if not the lowest, overnight rates in DT Providence.

Our DT location, within walking distance of Federal Hill, adjacent to the Dunkin Donuts Center, and one block from the RI Convention Center makes the Hilton one of the best choices to stay. It is great to hear that you were not expecting to get the Hilton, and that the accommodations met your expectations. We look forward to having you return should your travel plans bring you back to the Providence area.

“Great location and a great staff”

Stayed here over the Christmas Holiday 2011 and had a great stay. The property is very centrally located and was close to everything. Well it is Rhode Island so that is not very hard. BUT all kidding aside it is a nice property with a great staff. Staying anywhere over a Christmas can be a challenge and these guys did a good job of mixing the needs of the guests with their own holiday schedule. The only thing they could have done better was to keep the restaurant open a bit longer on Christmas day. It is close to Federal Hill and Brown and 8 minutes from PVD. I will stay here again.

Room Tip: Had a HHonors floor corner city-view room. It had a great view of the city and Brown University

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to host you over the Holiday season. I am glad to hear that the staff exceeded your expectations.

Although there are many restaruants within walking distance, the majority of them are closed on the Christmas holiday. Shulas 347 is one of just a couple restaruants that remains open on the holiday. We do close at 8pm for dinner on December 25th of each year. We will stay open later next year realizing the number of choices to dine are limited on the Christmas Holiday.

Thanks again, we look forward to hosting you in the future!

“Not bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We had a double on the fourth floor. Not bad. Rooms were well-appointed. Wall acoustical rating a bit on the light side; we could hear a family next door very clearly. Slight smell of some scent covering up a previous smoker. Beds were a bit saggy; my wife and I struggled with sliding to the dip in the middle and had a rough couple of nights sleep. TV was good, furniture, bath fixtures, etc were good. Clean. Front desk staff very helpful. Garage entrance to hotel is a bit funky and narrow, with small set of stairs. Best to drop your luggage at front door and then scoot around to the garage with the car.
Bar (Shula's) on the ground floor looked fine. We did not partake.
Easy location. Pretty much the first thing you see when getting off 95. Valet and front door people were very nice and friendly. Would come back; just might inquire about a room with newer/firmer beds.

We are dissapointed to hear that you had issues with the mattress in your room. All of our mattresses were repalced in our recent renovation. We will check on the mattress in the room you stayed in, and get a replacement from the factory.

It is great to hear that the service met your expectations. We look forward to hosting you again in the future.
