“Can't beat the convenience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

We go up to visit our daughter at Brown several times a year. We often used Priceline and got a good price on the 4 star hotels in Providence. One weekend, we didn't get the price we wanted and I had to expand down to 3 stars. We got the Wyndham Garden, and since then it's been our first choice. The best part is the convenience to Brown (and RISD) - no city traffic. It is self-park which is so much more convenient than the valet options downtown. While it certainly isn't as fancy as its 4 star counterparts, it is quite acceptable and certainly clean. The beds are comfortable and with nice linen and towels. The staff is very helpful, efficient, and friendly. The hotel is near the Wickenden street area and walking distance to Brickway. It is also right on the bike path near the harbor.

Room Tip: Harbor view

“Horrible Hotel”

Charge Marriott prices for Red roof Standards. No coffee in lobby like most hotels. They charge 18.00 for a hamburger. This place thinks it is the Ritz and should be closed and taken over by a reputable chain.

Room Tip: It is on the highway. Stay on the river side to avoid noise from traffic. Still no response from man...

I am very sorry that our hotel did not meet your expectations. Over the past year we have undergone significant room renovations to improve the property for all of our guests. As a part of our recent improvements we now offer complimentary Wolf Gang Puck coffee in all of our guest rooms and offer Starbucks coffee in our restaurant. If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

“Great for our quiet couples escape!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

My husband and I have been staying at the Garden for years now on date-nights in Providence and the surrounding area. We enjoy the cleanliness of the facility as well as it's nice, affordable restaurant. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I have already made recommendations to friends and family with positive results.

“Nice Last Minute Surpise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

I was pleasantly surprised at the accomodations the hotel provided. The rooms were both modern in appearance and very comfortable and clean. I travel on business often and booked this trip last minute. I was not expecting it to be so nice nor the staff so friendly and responsive. It was perfect having the restaurant located in the hotel to which the food was very good. My meetings were in the city so may have prefered it to be located there; however it was close enough to drive to without any problems and the service & accomodations more than made up for the location... When I travel back to Providence, this will definitely be my hotel of choice for all future trips.

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms facing the water

“Free Parking and wi-fi, very quick drive to downtown Providence”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We had 2 double beds with view of the water. Fantastic view. Sleep by number bed, which is great because I prefer firm beds, and usually hotel beds are very soft. My room was very quiet.

The staff was very friendly. As the room did not have a microwave, the staff said that I could just bring my food down to the restaurant and they could heat it up for me. The chef was super nice. I said that she could just nuke my burger in the microwave, but she offered to toast it for me instead because she didn't want me to eat a soggy burger.

Cons: I came in winter time, and there was a pretty strong draft coming from the space around the heating unit. However, this was easily fixed by lining the cracks with the many pillows they gave us. You can also control the temp on the unit.

Bathroom: a couple of loose tiles on the ground, but clean. Shower head had pretty good strength.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with everyone on trip advisor. I will be sure to pass along your feedback to our staff. We have a preventative maintenance program that ensures our rooms are to standard. I apologize that the heating unit wasn't insulated properly. Rest assured, we will have this corrected by your next visit with us. Thanks again for your detailed review.
