“Free Parking and wi-fi, very quick drive to downtown Providence”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We had 2 double beds with view of the water. Fantastic view. Sleep by number bed, which is great because I prefer firm beds, and usually hotel beds are very soft. My room was very quiet.

The staff was very friendly. As the room did not have a microwave, the staff said that I could just bring my food down to the restaurant and they could heat it up for me. The chef was super nice. I said that she could just nuke my burger in the microwave, but she offered to toast it for me instead because she didn't want me to eat a soggy burger.

Cons: I came in winter time, and there was a pretty strong draft coming from the space around the heating unit. However, this was easily fixed by lining the cracks with the many pillows they gave us. You can also control the temp on the unit.

Bathroom: a couple of loose tiles on the ground, but clean. Shower head had pretty good strength.

We have a preventative maintenance program that ensures our rooms are to standard. I apologize that the heating unit wasn't insulated properly. Rest assured, we will have this corrected by your next visit with us. Thanks again for your detailed review.

“Concerned about Quality Control”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I have been staying at this hotel for over 20 years each Christmas Eve and Christmas Night. Wyndham took it over 6 moths ago> I would assume with a new owner, there would be improvements. Loosk like the only thing they did was replace the hall carpets. We like it for its location, free parking and its melancholy but soothing views of the Providence Harbor. We don't like its thin walls. This time, we really didn't like the whole place. I would think with new owners, the whole atmosphere would change and the staff would be refreshing. Maybe my folly. I could still hear other conversations and the room was dated but the bed and room were comfortable and clean. The kicker that makes us question if we will come back was the Christmas morning breakfast. Althought it appears they kept the old staff as we recognized the server from previous years, they just didn't care about quality or service. Eggs Benedict came without meat and was cold. The server said they were out of canadian bacon when this was brought to her attention. She said the meal would be on the house, but we weren't looking for that. We were looking for a hot, decent meal. We never saw her again after she brought my husband the (cold) sausage subsititute he had to ask for. It made us question the whole quality control of the whole place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the harbor far away from other guests or at least an end room.

“A great place to stay in Providence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We have stayed there several times and have had very good experience. The facility is very good and the staff is terrific. We have found the rooms to be comfortable, good-sized and similar to what you would expect in any hotel of this type. While it is a little removed from everything else, there is easy access to Brown University, the Wickenden Street area, where there are several nice cafes and restaurants, and the downtown area. The front half also has a great view of the river across the way, and there is a nice park as well as a bike path.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.

I love the view of the water from my room great location minutes to downtown a $6 cab ride. Cant wait to plan my next trip to provicence and stay at the Wyndham Garden.

“Small room, bathroom and poor location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

This hotel is oddly situated between a highway and park that overlooks the river so nothing else is really in walking distance. The rooms are very small and furniture takes up most of the floor space. The bathroom is small and oddly laid out without adequate counterspace. The A/C unit rattled all night. This hotel use to be a Radisson and still has sleep number beds which are horribly uncomfortable.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry that our room size and location were issues during your stay. Our bathrooms are being fully renovated as we've just converted to a Wyndham Garden. We are in the process of replacing the remaining sleep number beds with the new Wyndham brand as well. In regards to what is in walking distance, there is a pedestrian bridge that goes over the interstate from the park in front of our hotel. This path takes you to Wickenden Street - an eclectic part of Providence that offers great dining, culture and nightlife. Again, your feedback is welcomed and appreciated.
