“A "Must Stay!"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My first stay at the Renaissance Providence was only 4 weeks after the hotel opened. We couldn't have asked for more! Great price, gorgeous decor throughout the hotel, perfectly clean rooms (and not just because they were new -- excellent housekeeping staff), and an amazingly accommodating front desk staff.

The hotel is adjacent to the State House, a beautiful historic building in the day, and amazingly lit up at night. A major shopping mall is within walking distance, and the hotel is just a short drive from Brown University.

I returned to Providence a few years later, mostly because of of the amazing experience I had at this hotel. Nothing had changed -- it was as wonderful as it was the first time! On this trip, I lost a set of bracelets, leaving them behind in the hotel room. The Renaissance staff went out of their way to be helpful, locating the missing jewelry and sending them by Fedex to my home.

Without reservation, I can recommend the Renaissance Providence as a "Must Stay!"

Oh...and if you're into history, make sure you check out the amazing story behind the building.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the State House

“Clean and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

This was a very typical Marriott - very nice with a nice Marriott bed. We requested a rollaway which they provided- really big one and comfy for my daughter. The bathroom was so pretty - nice shower and many nice touches with the shampoos, etc.
We ordered room service which was quick and really delicious (we had the flatbread pizza). Parking is 28 dollars and they were quick and efficient retrieving our car. We stayed here while at a cheerleading convention - very close to the convention center which is a big plus.

“Masonic Digs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

The Renaissance in Providence is a gem, a re-converted Masonic temple, only a block from the massive Providence Mall. Everything about our experience at this hotel was terrific. It had a wonderful gym, the staff was exceptionally helpful, and the location across from the State Capitol was fantastic. Great view of the Capitol building from our room, which was spacious and tastefully furnished. Plenty of places in the lobby to sit down and quietly read and the valet staff was very attentive. Staff even served tea and coffee at off hours. All in all, an absolutely wonderful experience

Room Tip: Ask for view of Capitol. High floor had little street noise.

“"Train Wreck"”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Arrived Sunday night - $28 for valet parking (in Providence!??)

Burger at the bar was way overcooked (possibly "double-cooked")

Asked for a wake-up call. Never received one.

Housekeeping was banging on the doot at 8 AM (even though there was a newpaper on the floor outside of the room!)

Won't be back.....

Thank you for your feedback and I do apologize that we did not exceed your expectation on this visit. As we are rated #1 in our market on Trip Advisor, I can assure you that this was an isolated instance and we would love to have the opportunity in the future to regain your confidence. In relation to our valet parking charge, it is equivalent to similar hotels in our market, it is valet service only and all vehicles are parked in a secure, covered environment accessible only to our team, this also includes 24 hour access to your vehicle with unlimited in and out privileges. In Providence we do consider this rate a value compared to parking charges in surrounding cities. Thank you once again for your feedback.
