We stayed for a week during December and enjoyed the campus proximity and livelystudent life all around us. The room was comfortable, had armoire with cable TV, free wireless broadband internet (and a free computer station down the hall if you didn't bring yours) and a simple continental breakfast of pastries and decent coffee and juice in a quiet lounge. The receptionists were obviously students and eclectic in conversation and interests, a good resource for visitors. Thayer Street, the main commercial drag for Brown, is right up the street for all kinds of cuisine and student-oriented shops and is hopping until late. Parking is offered in a lot a block away, useful in a crowded campus area. Plenty of hanging space, big rooms, nice but not spectacular bathroom, clean, secure (it takes a key to enter the lobby, going by the receptionist and a card swipe for the elevator before you even get to your floor) and if you have business on campus (or a child there) it's just about ideal! No room service or restaurant or laundry or pool or spa, but that's not why you're there, is it? Plenty of food, campus or commercial, within a few blocks.
