We stayed here on a recent camping trip to Estes Park. My husband and I love to tent camp - no cheating with an RV for us - and we had stayed at a KOA up in South Dakota a few years ago and enjoyed it so we wanted to try it again. The campground is on the east end of town and is surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the service facilities (bathrooms, office, laundry area, etc) were clean and orderly. Unfortunately it rained all night the first evening we were there and our tent got drenched and flooded. So we ended up switching to one of the little Kamping Kabins, which is just a basic cabin with a full bed along with a bunk bed, which would be perfect for a family. What I liked about the tent site was the lean-to shelter they had over the picnic table and the little prep table next to the fire pit as well as a flourescent light. My only complaint about the tent site was that it was located right at the front of the campground and less than 30 feet from the main highway, so we had the noise of passing cars all evening and night. If you want a quieter tent spot, you would have to settle for one located further back from the road but without a water pump and electrical hookup. Still the staff was very friendly and understanding when we wanted to move to a cabin. I would definitely recommend this KOA if you plan to camp in Estes Park as the rates are reasonable AND there's a free tourist shuttle that stops by out front every half hour from 10 am to 7 pm. The shuttle can take you straight to the main drag of Estes Park, which has numerous souvenire shops and places to eat. It can also take you to the main visitors' center, where you can catch a ride into nearby Rocky Mountain National Park. AWESOME!
Room Tip: For a quieter tent site, reserve a non-electric and water hookup located further back from the road
