“LOVE! LOVE! LOVED Aspen Winds!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

We had such a great experience at Aspen Winds!. We will undoubtably return again. The hosts were warm, friendly and courteous! The room was perfect for just the two of us. The bed was comfortable and the hot tub was clean and soooo relaxing!!!! We especially enjoyed having our earl morning coffee by the river. We were looking for a quiet relaxing time and that is exactly was we got here. Thank you so much and we will see you again real soon.

“Never Lews condo! I'd rather stay home!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011 via mobile

We stayed in Lews condo for a night, planning on longer, but had several issues that had us checked in at 5pm and out at 11 am. First we had a fantastic onset of allergies, mainly by my husband, but myself and our three little ones were all struggling with them. I don't know what started them, but they were awful and we don't usually have anything like that! And then the place has baseboard heating, so we were hot and cold all night, not to mention they hadn't been turned on for a while, so the burning dust didn't do anything for our already bad allergies. And then I noticed furniture pushed up against the heaters, which had me concerned about a fire hazard. And then there are only queen sized beds and the sheets were SO awful, being so rough and itchy that I actually got out of bed to check for bed bugs. I didn't find any, so it was just awful bedding. The location of the "condo" was in an apartment like complex, nothing even remotely pretty about it and it was dark and rather cramped inside, not to mention we could hear everything from cars starting, driving, to neighbors coming, going, and talking. And then it falsely advertised complimentary Netflix movies, but unfortunately not at Lews condo. All in all, it was the worst stay we've ever had in Estes, and in my case, anywhere. Grateful, tho, for them letting us out of the next four days, which we had reserved. So probably the places on the river are great but just run from Lews condo. I don't know who Lew is, but he should stay in his own place sometime, I think he would not be thrilled.

Dorothy Rohrbaugh, Manager at Aspen Winds on Fall River, responded to this review

Dear Jmbrendle,

Thank you for your review. We are very sorry that Lew’s condo did not meet your expectations. This property, as you noted, is managed by Aspen Winds but is not located at Aspen Winds on Fall River. Lew’s condo is located in a condo complex that allows both full time living and vacation rentals. This is common in Estes Park.

There are environmental allergens present in Estes Park during the fall. Our cleaning standards, for which we receive high praise, are the same for Lew’s condo and the condos at Aspen Winds. We try to use only green cleaning products. Since no green product is available, we must use a commercial soap, softener and rinse aid to sanitize our laundry.

Baseboard electric heating is frequently used in Estes Park. All the rooms have individual thermostats. This type of heating is more gradual. During cold weather, we adjust the thermostat in advance to insure the comfort of our guests. If the thermostat is turned down at night, it does take longer for the condo to warm up the next morning. Thirty and even forty degree outside temperature variances within a day are normal in Estes Park.

The listing on our web site for Lew’s condo incorrectly states that this unit has free Netflix movies. This is a proofreading error on our part and we will have our web manager correct it.

We plan to create a new web site for Aspen Winds. To avoid confusion between Lew’s condo and the condos at Aspen Winds, Lew’s condo will not be listed on the new site. It will be on a separate site. Your review confirmed our decision to make this change.

Again, please accept our sincere apology. It is our goal to exceed the expectations of our guests.

“A Great Get Away!”

There are lots of places to choose from in Estes Park and the properties vary a lot in age and condition. Aspen Winds may not be new but it is in excellent shape. Very clean and spacious. We had the Spa Suite room with a gas fireplace and jacuzzi tub. We loved the old fashioned swings on the lawn, everything about this place says sit back and relax. This property was easy to find and right on our way to Rocky Mtn Natl Park. We would definitely come back!

“The BEST PLACE to stay in Estes Park!!”

Aspen Winds was FABULOUS!! We stayed over the Labor Day Weekend and the property was even better than we anticipated. The unit (#5) was absolutely lovely, with floor to ceiling windows framing a gorgeous mountain view, a cozy fireplace for cool evenings, a whirlpool tub, and all the amenities of home. It is well-maintained and nicely furnished. We soooooo enjoyed sitting out on the balcony listening to the sounds of the Fall River as it ran by the property. The owners are on-site (a family business) and were very friendly and helpful. We wouldn't stay anywhere else when in Estes!!
