“This was our 2nd stay and we're hoping to return next summer!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

Our daughter attends camp in Estes Park and we have stayed at "Mary's Lake" for the past 2 parent's weekend pickups. We rent a one bedroom, 2 bath condo that is equipped with a full kitchen, pull out sofa and is perfect for our stay. In the condos there is no maid service, but it is worth the price savings. the pool and hot tub are great, as is the location of the resort - the closest to Cheley Camp, I believe. We buy groceries at the local Safeway and save on food. I do think the restaurant is very pricey and the food is just ok. The bar and setting are rustic and inviting. It is also nice that there is no "resort fee", "parking fee", etc, which can add up. I can't vouch for lodge accommodations, but the condo accommodations are great!

“Overall nice, but too wide open”

It's a nice enough campground. The amenities are very good, although the pool is tiny. But the big problem is there are no trees, so it is totally wide open. The tent sites in the back are spaced out nicely, but because of the lack of trees, there is no absolutley no privacy. You can see all the sites and everyone can see yours.

“Expected more for $27 / night”

If you have an RV, it may not be too bad. We were tent camping and had a terrible experience at this campground. Crowded, sites close together, constant noise and absolutely no regulation of quiet hours. I think I slept a total of about 2 hours. We had people walking by our tent yelling all night long. One of the most disappointing experiences I've had in a long time; a waste of our $27.

“Tent Camper **BEWARE*** SCAM”

If you are Tent Camper beware.. I checked to see if they had any available sites on Friday, yes last minute and yes they did.. Packed up car got there and showed site I wanted.. They said it had been taken.. Ok next best thing give you a RV space for a big increase. Well no choice decided to stay.. Go check tent sites for our next trip there. Lo and behold our tent site empty.. Check it again on Sat & Sunday and empty.. so they scam you ,they have tent sites availabe but want to earn money giving you a area that RV's are right on top of you. Screaming kids running through / across your area and barking dogs that are left locked up because owners are off doing fun stuff. Then you have the mangi mutts in the very small cold water pool. “We might as well have gone camping in a parking lot”

I have never camped in CO before, only in NJ and PA. I honestly thought my expectations were reasonable, based on having only done pretty basic car camping. In fact, I was hoping for more "realistic" camping experience in the mountains. We were shocked at the close quarters at this campground. Our site was had no privacy and the family in the site next to us had several tents, one of which was no more than 3 feet from our tent pad. We might as well have been sharing a site with a large party of complete strangers. I'm used to hearing other noise from other campers and maybe even catching sight of a neighboring site between the trees, but this was ridiculous! We were with small kids and couldn't imagine spending the day and night less than 5 feet away from a large group of adults who were smoking, drinking and listening to the radio. The playground area was run down and the pool was basically a large hot tub. We left without ever unpacking the car.
