“Good value for $72 including tax”

I got good cooperative service from front desk, which is rare. This is limited service, extended stay hotel so tailor your expectations accordingly. I was satisfied with room condition, cleanliness. LCD TV with lots of cable channels. I only stayed overnight and did not use exercise room, pool, etc. so cannot comment on them. Full kitchen with utensils; pantry at which you can purchase food [expensive but not outrageously so] and cook or microwave. Though hotel address is 3024 Menaul, entrance is not on Menaul but from side street so check satellite view on google or yahoo map else you will miss and have to make U-turn on Menaul. Lots of restaurants within a mile or two; not very far from freeway

“Great price in good ABQ location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

Candlewood Suites are all designed around extended stays. If you are expecting daily maid service you are not staying in the correct place. These are essentially apartments with kitchens and shared laundry facilities. If that's what you are after, then this is a well priced option.

This one in particular was well positioned near the interstate for travelers, near to useful shops such as Walmart and a few restaurants. Not far away is the Nob Hill area of Albuquerque which has some great shopping and dining, as well as being located on the old Route 66.

The room was well appointed, quite clean and quiet. The view from our room was spectacular. The fitness room is pretty good, older equipment but some weights which is rare. The complimentary guest laundry included 8 washers and 8 dryers, fantastic! We were able to quickly do all our washing which had built up from a long time on the road.

We'd stay here again if we return to Albuquerque.

“Would not recommend this place”

This place has maid service only when you check out, not during your vist. Need clean sheets? You get them from the front desk and change them yourself. The lack of daily service shows in the cleanliness of the room. Big minus. Internet by plugin only, no wireless. The air conditioner is in the wall, and you can't hear the tv when it is on. If we hadn't paid in advance, we would have not stayed for 3 days.

“Can't beat the price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

This hotel regularly charges $59-$69 per night. This is a really good value for Albuquerque. If you just need a place to stay for one night or have an early flight out (I did), then this hotel is fine. I thought the location was fine. It is right off the highway. There are several restaurants nearby. A nice Applebees is right across the street. The check-in staff was very friendly. I booked a 1 queen bed suite. The room was very clean. The was one negative, however. The room was supposed to be non-smoking but it did smell of smoke. This was very noticeable when I tried to sleep. I could deal with it for one night. However, if you are sensitive to smoke, you should check out the room.

“You Get What You Pay For”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2009

Yes, the hotel was reasonably priced. And the bed was reasonably comfortable. But, this may not be the cleanest nor safest place around. If you arrive during the night, you have to be buzzed in to the hotel. The hotel itself is located in a semi-industrial/semi-commercial strip, that is close to downtown. We had a "nice view" of walmart and some other unremarkable stores.

This is an "extended stay" type place. This means it only gets serviced once a week. However, it seems as though when it is cleaned, it is not very thorough. Although the bed linens were clean, the rest of the room seemed less than clean. If not for the dry climate, this place would have been moldy for sure.

Also noticed that although the room was non-smoking (and it seemed as if most rooms also were non-smoking), the building did smell of smoke throughout, including in the room.

They allow pets to stay in the room. I think there was cat dander in our room since I kept sneezing in the room (and was fine elsewhere). Not exactly a feature...

Desk staff was not the most pleasant, but this is apparently on par with local standards.

Budget permitting, I would choose to stay somewhere else next time.
