I had booked with expedia..which means that I paid in advance for an eight day stay. I arrived around 10:30 @ night, exhausted from about 12 hours of traveling time. I had booked a single non smoking room. When I arrived , a rude and somewhat condescending male desk clerk told me that I was in a smoking room. When I told him that I had reserved a nonsmoking room, he quicky interrupted me and said that they never quarantee a nonsmoking room... and all they had for me wasa smoking room. His tone was NOT helpful, he acted like I was bothering him. It didn't matter what I said to him...it was the nonsmoking room or nothing.I asked him when i could be switched to nonsmoking room, he rudely replied he didn't know. When I said that wasn't a good enough answer, he scribbled something down in a notebook, looked through a book and said in two- three days.
when I got to my room, there was dried yellow urine spots on the toilet seat and some type of regurgitated food stuff stuck in the carpet.I was too tired to battle, so i cleaned everything up, took a shower and went to sleep/.
The next day I stopped and spoke with the day clerk, who told me that they just didn't have anything else..but she guaranteed me a nonsmoking room starting on the fifth night of my stay...and wrote something(supposedly) to that effect in anotebook on the desk
The only good thing I can say about the hotel is that they were/are pet freindly.
after 4 nights of returning to my room and being overwhelmed by the stench of old nicotine..I approached the clerk again. As iwaited in line, I overheard the male clerk(from my first night) offer a man his choice of a non smoking room on the first, second or third floor.
when I got to my turn, i explained what I had been promised and what I expected. The clerk demanded to know who had promised me that..telling me that no nonsmoking rooms were available..that there wasn't any note to that effect on the desk.(Pretty bad when liedto about availability when I had just heard him offer three different nonsmoking rooms. to amale client I think that if I had started yelling, I probably would have gotten what I wanted faster, but Iwas brought up that you should always treat people(even when they don't deserve it) respectfully. I repeated what I wanted. I told him I was tired of getting sick every time I went into the room...and I refused to leave. eventually he gave me NEW room..but was very begrudgingly with me.
I don't know what his problem was...whether he had issues with females, short people, people he thought he could bully..who knows? All I know is that the concept of service and making the customer happy was not part of his lexicon. I will NEVER stay there again and will hesitate to stay at any of the extended stay hotels that are part of the chain.
