“Nice hotel in a good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

My family and I stayed at this hotel for the second year in a row, because of an event that we had in one of the conference rooms. We had a nice time. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Since we are a family of 4, we benefitted from the sofa bed in the room. We have had, both times, a good quality sleep. I like that even as the rooms face the hotel bar and restaurant, the rooms are quiet. The only problem that we have encountered both times is that when ordering the breakfast in the morning, we do not get all of the food that we ordered.

“Can't go wrong with this Marriott property”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

This review is for our stays in December 2011, and January 2012.

Don't get me wrong, as a long time Marriott Platinum member I would normally view this hotel as a "5." I deducted 1 point because the hotel restaurant is mediocre at best, and there is no bellman to help one with a load of luggage. Just some of my own criteria after having stayed at over 150 Marriott properties.

But overall I would have to say it was an excellent experience. The one bedroom room was clean and spacious. The bathroom toilet and shower were rather cramped, but workable. All of our requirements were perfectly waiting for us in our room, and it looked like they actually had brand new pillows and sheets on our bed. Who could ask for anything more.

Talking about staff....an excellent crew of personnel including Eric and Stephanie at the front desk. Bottom line they were all great, and very accommodating. There was also plenty of parking, and it is complimentary. Location wise it was around a large number of restaurants within a 2 to 3 mile radius.

For Platinum, Gold Member, or those on the concierge floor the lounge is very well placed, and both the evening and morning offerings are quite adequate, though I wish they would have had fresh oatmeal rather than the add hot water and mix type.

If in Albuquerque again, my wife and I wouldn't hesitate a moment to stay in this property. I recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Request a room on the other side of the hotel away from the highway.

“Staff makes extra effort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We stay at this property about once per year. The two room suites are essentially oversize rooms with a wall and a door installed. But we had two flat screens in good working order, and the furniture was comfy, if a bit dated. What really stands out at this property is an accomodating staff that changes little from year to year. It makes all the difference.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the mini-suites. Stay away from the east side - bright sunrise and overlooks busy int...

“Great stay and good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

It was a fairly typical Marriott experience, though I was impressed with the fitness center. While somewhat cozy, I was treated to a filtered water station with 3 temperature options, cold towels, and chilled cucumber water.

Be warned, the pool is half inside / half outside, which can make winter swimming a challenge. However, the two hot tubs were able to make up for it.

Lastly, I stopped downstairs after forgetting a toothbrush. The concierge produced one free of charge.

“Disproves theory that 'with Marriott, you always know what you're going to get.'”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

This Marriott is just OK and well below par compared to other Marriotts. The property has a decent exterior appearance and interior similar design to some of the SF luxury hotels, but much less elegant. Staff is very courteous. Checkin line was long with only one person working the front desk at 8pm. Cookies in the lobby was a nice touch, but they were the store-bought choc chip variety, not fresh baked. Coffee in the lobby was below par, not even as tasty as the in-room coffee. Elevators are very slow. Bed was OK, pillows very plush, but shower did not hold a constant temperature. No issues with the WiFi in the rooms. TV was a 32"-ish flat screen with sticky remote buttons and limited channel lineup.

Pool was small, with the majority being outside with a swim-under wall to the inside. I'm sure that works fine in the summer but it was not as enjoyable at 30F and even if you use the outside portion, no room for laps. Two small jacuzzi tubs, one was only heated to about 90-95 (103 is more typical) and the other had a leaf or something floating in it so I didn't try it. Gym was not big, but ample cardio equipment, a few TVs, and water with cucumber that didn't taste very fresh but fortunately didn't get me sick either.

The restaurant and bar area both serve the same menu. The menu is a short list of mostly salads or tex-mex. Food quality was surprisingly tasty and the local pale ale was also delicious.

Not much around this location but was close to my biz meetings. Apparently there is a Starbucks about a mile away in a strip mall. Other than that, it seemed like everything was 20 min away.
