“Stay at your own Risk”

I stayed four nights at this hotel during Balloon Fiesta 2011. On the final night, a large window in my van was smashed in and the thieves carted off about 150 lbs. of my property. It is my work van and it was parked securely and visibly in the back of the hotel.

When I called the general manager to obtain more information about the surveillance video, he told me their IT division is reviewing it and he would get back to me. I have not heard a word from him. In addition, he made no apology for this occurring on the property.

This was in addition to my check-in experience. Although there were only three people in line ahead of me, it took over a half-an-hour to check in. When I was being checked in, I simply asked the girl if I could be placed in a quiet room, as I was there working and I am a light sleeper. Her response, "You will get whatever we have left."

I told her this was an unprofessional response to my request. She then slapped my ID and CC on the desk and told another employee to help me and stormed off. It was a ridiculous response to a request I ask just about any hotel I stay at.

The room was nice. The doors in the hotel are extremely loud when guests allow them to slam by themselves. The food was descent and it was a clean place. But beware of where you park and what you leave in your car.

“Very good stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Came for a night for balloon festival and was pleased with the hotel. Good location - we took the shuttle which is nearby so we didn't have to deal with parking. This was their suggestion. They were very helpful with balloon info (gave us their last pamphlet!) and restaurants, etc. Nice room, no complaints! Would stay here again.

“Was pleasantly surprised; went for Balloon Fiesta 2010”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

I am a little bit of a hotel snob and my motto for years has been "My idea of camping is staying at a Holiday Inn." However, when planning to stay for 4 nights during balloon fiesta, choices were limited and we went with this because it was available and we didn't expect to be in the room/hotel very much.

Upon arrival we were dreading what our imaginations were conjuring up because it was near the highway and there wasn't much "neighborhood appeal." Entering the lobby, we suddenly had hope! It was modern and sleek and sparkling clean. No one was there and they had fresh baked cookies. We had requested a quiet room away from the roads, elevators and ice machines. The room was quite pleasant with a surprisingly very comfortable bed, and nicely decorated. I can't believe I'm saying it, but the room itself was better overall than the room we had at a Westin in Seattle just two months prior. This was a different Holiday Inn than I remembered, definitely few steps up from my camping image! (Just say no to camping, lol.) We did not have a great view since we overlooked the building next door but all things considered, we didn't expect a view and didn't really care. Dark and quiet for sleeping is what we wanted and got.

We never used the pool, were up very early and came back after the fireworks. We found our way around quiet easily to and from the balloon park whether taking the back roads or the highway. We went at times to miss the peak traffic and had a great experience. We found our Fiesta tickets cheaper at Costco and the location was a good launching spot for going to Oldtown, Santa Fe and driving around in general to explore. We were ultimately glad to not be with the crowds at hotels closer to the balloon event.

The staff was completely professional and friendly as well as helpful.

“This place started my long feud with Holiday Inn”

I sometimes stay at Holiday Inn hotels because others I work with do, but I fight it at all costs and this is the hotel that ruined it for the rest of them. I stayed here last year for the first and last time. The housekeeping crew set my alarm on my second night for 4:30am. It wasn't like the previous guest had it set there because the first night was fine. I couldn't go back to sleep because my adrenaline was spiked from trying to find the stupid clock in the dark and I had an extremely important presentation that day that I was like a zombie for. I notified the front desk when I went downstairs and they couldn't have cared less. I asked to speak with the manager, Angel, who wasn't around of course, so I left my contact details. NEVER heard from her. Stopped by on my way back in since I had one more night before I flew out and they were no help again. Said I needed to talk to Angel. How? When she doesn't answer my calls or call me back......until I'm on the plane with my phone off the following day. So I tried calling her back and NOTHING. I really just wanted somebody to care, but they didn't. Apologize, but they didn't. I then decided to write to Holiday Inn and IHG. That also fell on deaf ears as I never even got an acknowledgement. This confirmed to me that Holiday Inn is the absolute worst hotel chain on Earth and they have no heart or compassion for their guests or should I say suckers.

“Nice hotel and well maintained”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

We stayed at this Holiday Inn because it was well located and we weren't disappointed. Clean ,well cared for property with easy access to the I-25., so great access to the city and the highway to both the Sandia mountain and Sante Fe.
The restaurant is only average ,OK for breakfast and only average for dinner but there are several within a 10 minute walk. Carpark is just in front of the hotel, but the area around the property is semi industrial.
Complimentary coffee and cookies and free wi fi were all good.

Room Tip: the higher the better, but they seem all well maintained
